🇬🇧 Bittersweet victory over the weekend as I didn’t get to fully embrace the win. I create the perfect scenarios in my head and tend to obsess over them which then leads me to not fully be in the moment. I wanted a big KO win, but still we got it done early in the 1st. It’s an issue that I need to sort out, not only as a fighter, but as a man.
On the other hand, I can’t believe I get to do what I love and fill up arenas doing it. How fucken cool is that? I appreciate every single person that supports me. And trust me, even if I don’t personally know you, I appreciate you.
A big shout out to my brothers @mikeshipmanmma and @michaelvenompage for being in my corner. I am truly blessed to be able to call you guys my big brothers. Massive shoutout to Miggy. C as well, the best hypeman anyone can ask for. My teammates and coaches at LSF and all my training partners who helped me with this camp. Too many to name.

I cannot explain the happiness I felt Friday night. I’ve been putting so much into this, and to be able to get a finish like that against a legit opponent is an otherworldly experience.
Firstly, I’d like to wish a quick recovery to my opponent. Secondly, I’d like to thank my coaches ( @shootfightersofficial & @shootpaul ) and teammates at LSF. @mikeshipmanmma for helping me out on fight week. My friends and family and everyone who’s been showing me support. @paradigmsports @mmalawyer @pformsupplements @traactnutrition

A couple days later, I can finally look at the fight clearly.

I fucked up my rehydration. I overdid the sugar and destroyed my stomach. What normally wouldn’t be a major issue, this time for whatever reason my stomach just couldn’t handle it. The night before I barely slept and fight day was a mess. I couldn’t eat or drink properly and spent my warm up running back and forth to the bathroom. I felt terrible.

I pride myself on my cardio. My teammates know I can have a never ending tank. Yet two minutes into round one, my gas tank was gone. My arms and legs felt like noodles.

Maybe it didn’t look like it from the outside, but I was completely gone in there.

My body had nothing left.

But my heart and my discipline kept me in that fight.

I’m a winner. In war, winning is the priority. So I adapted, wrestled, did what I had to do and found a way to win.

I take full responsibility for putting myself in that position. And I know that on DWCS, simply finding a way to win isn’t what the UFC is looking for. I wanted to show my pace, my cardio and the violence I know I’m capable of.

That wasn’t the fighter I came there to show.

But it showed me something else.

When my body gave out, my heart didn’t.

For me, it has always been with my shield or on my shield and as Kipling said, I’ll force my heart and nerve and sinew to serve my turn long after they are gone.

I’ve sacrificed almost everything for this. No holidays. No parties. No women. No distractions. Every day and almost every penny goes into becoming the best fighter I can be.

The goal hasn’t changed.

There is a lot more violence coming.

Aside from all of this, I appreciate the support more than I can put into words. I barely got off the plane before people on the street were telling me I’ll get the contract next time, and the messages from people explaining how I’ve affected their lives mean more than they know.

That alone makes every bit of resistance life throws at me worth it.
If this is what legacy is about, I can’t wait to dig in even deeper.

I don’t know what happened.

I felt so shit in there. After the first round, my cardio was gone. I think I fucked up my rehydration and paid the price for it.

I let myself down, and I feel like I let everyone around me down too.

I won the fight, but I didn’t get the contract. And honestly, that hurts.

I’ve put so much into this. So many sacrifices, so much work, and to come away from this feeling like I didn’t perform anywhere near the level I know I’m capable of is fucking devastating.

Now I have to go home, take a step back and figure out what comes next.

I’m disappointed. Really disappointed.

But maybe sometimes things just aren’t meant to happen the way you want them to.
