💔😓🌹 18 years ago today, I lost the woman who was my real mother in every way that mattered. 💔 Her name was Sylvia and she was an amazing mother, teacher, and leader. ✅

😎🔥 She was an extraordinary mother who adopted my mom and aunt, and when things went left, she stepped up without hesitation to raise me, giving me a safe home and a real foundation. Taught me how to balance a checkbook, how to get a job, how to treat people with respect, and so many other amazing life lessons. When she was diagnosed with cancer in 2008, we were promised six months and only got three. I stayed right by her side through all of it until the end and it traumatized me big time. 💯 But I wouldn't do things any differently.

Carrying on the proud legacy of her father, Frederick C. Fenton, her impact runs deep. When Fenton High School @fentonhs reached out to me, bestowing me with the opportunity to create a tribute video to honor her father Fred and our family's roots with the school! 🎓 It was a powerful reminder of where we come from. That connection and her enduring strength gave me the exact push I needed to keep going, keep building, and keep moving forward. She is my hero. ❤️

I miss her so much every single day, but her love, her strength, and her sacrifices live on in everything I do.

Miss you, Mom. 💔💔

🪿 Michigan is home to over 300,000 Giant Canada Geese, a subspecies once thought to be completely extinct in the 1950s before a small remnant population was rediscovered and successfully restored. Non-invasive despite what your Uncle tells you in the golf course. ⛳💯

Today, many of these birds have adapted to urban landscapes and actually forgo migration altogether, relying on a countercurrent heat exchange mechanism in their legs that keeps their feet from freezing on ice while they stay in Michigan year-round. 📅

🌊 Additionally, day-old goslings are capable of diving up to 40 feet underwater to escape predators, showcasing impressive early survival adaptations.

Very cool! Where do you see them most around your area? Comment down below 👇

🐿️🖤💯 Michigan's famous black squirrels are actually Eastern gray or fox squirrels carrying a rare genetic mutation in the (MC1R) melanocortin 1 receptor gene, which causes their bodies to overproduce the pigment melanin. This particular squirrel is obviously a female who has survived one winter and is clearly great at foraging (see the acorn in her mouth?). Good job, mama! 💯

This dark coat gives them a major metabolic advantage in the Great Lakes region because their black fur absorbs significantly more solar radiation. ☀️🔥 That heat absorption allows them to conserve crucial energy, stay active longer on freezing winter days, and endure harsh Michigan winters far better than their gray counterparts.

🧬 Many years ago a population evolved this random mutation that helped them survive more. Those genes passed on more because of that survival, creating a feedback loop and now there is a huge population of black squirrels here in Michigan, around 56% of Eastern Gray.

Which color are the squirrels where you live? 📍Comment down below. 👇

🚫🌿 Cheap Paper, No Photos: Michigan CRA Downgrades Medical Cards Again! Just when you think the state couldn't treat medical patients and caregivers more like an afterthought, the CRA announced another downgrade. 📉

Starting October 1st MMMP registry cards are getting stripped down:

• No More Photos: Cardholder photos are being removed entirely
• Black & White Only: Color printing is out
• Flimsy Paper: Hard plastic is being replaced with thin cardstock

The CRA’s excuse? Expired printing equipment and cost savings. 👎 Just BS, if you ask me. Name one other community that has to deal with stuff like this. I'll wait...⏳

While state agencies find funds for everything else, medical patients, who pay fees to maintain their legal status, are handed flimsy, photo-less paper cards that look more like temp passes than legal state ID. Patients and caregivers who built the foundation of Michigan’s community deserve investment and respect, not cheap shortcuts. 💯 Note: Existing cards remain valid until their expiration date. Enjoy them while they last!

Can you believe this? 🤔 Comment your thoughts below 👇
