“Trust my instincts, close my eyes and leap” 🎶💚

Hi, I’m Melissa or as I’m called here MagicWithMelissa - Makeup Artist, Mom, Wife, Theatre enthusiast, Disney lover and sometimes singer 🎶

On this #musicalmonday I wanted to share more photos of my day backstage at the @hollywoodpantagestheatre - what a magical day that was.

Part of being a season ticket holder is this Open House day that I attended, it was not an exclusive influencer event which I think is fantastic! As a season ticket member, attending this event creates a great sense of community which just goes to show how much the @hollywoodpantagestheatre wants you to feel like you are the magic of the theatre! Without your support and love for theatre, the Pantages wouldn’t be what it is. My favorite part of this event is learning about all of the fascinating history that has taken place since it’s opening in 1930.

1. Me on the Pantages stage living my best life in my favorite shade of green 💚🫶🏼🖤

2. View from the mezzanine 🥹

3. Next to the Wicked poster! I’m soooo happy it’s flying back to the Pantages next year!! 💚

4. Backstage in one of the many dressing rooms backstage. Maybe one day I’ll be helping with wigs or makeup back here! 💄
5. The “Elphie Beam” which is signed by almost all of the Elphaba’s to grace the Pantages Stage. 💚

6. Sharing this experience with my Mom who was my introduction to theatre. She and my dad took me to my first show which was Phantom of the Opera. I was 4! 🌹

7. Couldn’t pass up grabbing a picture with Weird Barbie! @ameliaheape1 🩷

Follow along next week as I head back to the @hollywoodpantagestheatre for @mammamiathetour 🩵

💚who else loves ABBA’s music??? 💚

🔵DOGMAN the Musical is in LA!!!!🔵

Addie made her own Little Petey costume and I love how she added the ears to her glasses!

Thank you @ctgla and @dogmanmusical 😻

I love theatre for young audiences and DOGMAN does such a wonderful job of bringing these colorful characters to life!

DOGMAN shines for many reasons but I truly loved that it’s at times a love letter to theatre itself by referencing classic and contemporary musicals that parents will know and appreciate. The performers are incredibly talented with how high energy they are. Everyone is a stand out because it’s an ensemble show with constant set and costume changes to keep the flow going. It’s honestly so much fun!

DOGMAN can make for a wonderful first theatre experience if you are looking for a show that is appropriate and engaging for a new young theatre goer. My girls are 8 and 10 but this show is suited for ages as young as 5.

Little Petey 😻

There are coloring activities and even a corner to curl up and read the DOGMAN graphic novel if you arrive early enough!

😻 We Love DOGMAN

DOGMAN The Musical is currently at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City through October 18th!

Parking is free with validation at City Hall!!

Don’t miss it! taken in Kirk Douglas Theatre by @magicwithmelissa

“On the 21st day of the month of September”…. Happy Little Shop of Horrors day to everyone who celebrates! It’s such a joy to revisit this show after first discovering it when I was a freshman in high school! I fell in love with Little Shop, so much as to even name my cat Seymour! He lived to be around 21 years old and he always reminded me of how much I loved being in that show. Fast forward to now and I have the honor of designing and putting my own vision into the show. I’m very proud. I also have to thank everly for manifesting this production for me. A few years ago she discovered Little Shop and was bummed that she missed seeing a production and in her words, the movie was too scary. I said, well maybe I’ll be able to work on it someday and it happened! She was so excited to come backstage and get to see Audrey II up close! She LOVES puppetry and is especially fascinated by the athleticism it takes to bring Audrey II to life!

Anyway, if you made it this far, thank you for being here and loving theatre and supporting what brings me joy! 🥲

NEW MUSICAL ALERT 🚨

𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝
🌲🏕️🌄
Last week I was fortunate enough to catch the first preview of this new pop based musical called Wild Child. A story about two troubled teens in search of finding community, love and the hardships that adolescence brings. A story for teens, about teens!

Wild Child reminds us that strength is found within and sometimes you just need to put the devices away and go outside.

Stunning set design by Michael Schweikardt, beautiful music and a cast that lights up the stage, Wild Child is the next young adult musical to see! @thedavidecosta and @salimagangani really lead this wonderful ensemble and their chemistry with each other was warm and heartfelt. Stand out moments from @amandoodle as Lynds and @gabbydahlen as Phoenix - I really enjoyed their songs and moments on stage together.

Catch it for its limited run at @lagunaplayhouse through October 4th!
