Let us introduce the first MAG Mini handpan, the D Kurd 14!

MAG Instruments has just released the MAG Mini, bringing one of the handpan world’s most iconic scales into a more compact, 50 cm diameter instrument.

The D Kurd MAG Mini features a complete minor scale with no missing notes, something that isn’t possible on a regular-size handpan. That makes it especially interesting for learning music, playing familiar melodies, and exploring the instrument in a whole new way.

And being smaller has its advantages: it’s easier to carry, easier to travel with, and more accessible for children and players with smaller hands or reach.

A classic scale. A completely new format.

The MAG Mini D Kurd has arrived. 👀

Working together with MAG ambassador and our good friend, Marcel Hutter, we have created a version of the MAG C Harmonic Minor scale that offers a three-in-one handpan. Besides the C Harmonic, this handpan also includes the C Natural Minor scale and a G Hijaz as well due to a smart placement of tonefields.
This special handpan is available to order on our website.

Listen to it being played by MAG co-founder and handpan artist, Peter Bognár.

Short handpan solo idea with some percussive split-hand phrases I learned from @_nadishana_ and some North Indian Pakhawaj phrases learned from @ganapatizeneiskola.

It was quite fun and challenging to write this, and its a great work out for the split-hand muscles :D

The composition fits nicely in a 16 beat cycle of teen taal, although it is interpreted freely :)

Here’s my 6th Handpan Tutorial!

This time we’re exploring a 16th-note groove with double-hand accents on beats 1 and 3.

It’s a simple little variation, but it can completely change the feel of your groove.
I especially love using the double-hand hits on chords — they add a nice punch, create more movement, and make a basic 16th-note pattern feel much more alive.

Start slowly, get the hand pattern comfortable, and once it feels natural, try moving the accents around different chords and notes on your handpan.

Have fun exploring!

And as always — let me know what you’d like to learn next!

The playing, the mistakes, the quiet hours, the days that almost don’t work. All offered, without attachment to the outcome. That is the whole direction. That is where fulfillment is.

“Success” can be a delusion.
Clinging to it brings only suffering. Peace is another thing. Being happy with whatever comes.

If it reaches someone, good. If it stays only between us and Him, that is already enough.

For God.
