Our 2007 debut album 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘐𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘦, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘞𝘦’𝘷𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘬 is back on streaming and digital stores now via @magneticdrift ✨

This is the second reissue in our series of remasters done by Andreas in his Magic Window studio in Berlin.

The journey of our first album 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘐𝘴 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘦, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘞𝘦’𝘷𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘬 was a long and complicated one, the title of the record is not a coincidence, in case you ever wondered about that title…
Writing began in 2005 with many home demos recorded on a laptop without external microphones and featured for the first time lots of electronic elements and treated sound recordings. Back then our line up was the trio of original drummer @hans.block, bassist Thomas Liman and Andreas on vocals and guitar, so the introduction of programmed or synthesized elements opened up a lot of new possibilities. After a few weeks of rehearsals we premiered the songs of the new album with shows in the summer of 2005, before writing and fine tuning commenced during autumn of that year, demoing even more new songs and ideas along the way.
We began recording with Thomas Kasting (check his current band @vanutst btw!) at Studio Bellevue in January 2006 and it kicked off an intense production period that lasted about six months. ➡️

During that time Andreas met pianist and composer Nils Frahm on a car sharing ride to Hamburg and the two decided to stay in touch and try making some music together. One of their first studio meetings revolves around taking programmed elements and filtering them, re-playing them live, cutting them up and recontextual taken in Berlin, Germany by @magneticdrift

This year marks 25 years since this band came into being… which feels ridiculous and unfathomable really, but at the same time we came a long way and so much has happened in the meantime.

We worked on a lot of music since our last releases, but also our master rights reverted back to us recently which means we are now free to do with them however we please… So that gave us an idea: To celebrate this occasion (and really why not?) Andreas sat down with the recordings and tweaked one thing or two to give them a well deserved remaster.

In the weeks to come over the course of late summer and autumn we will be putting out a release from our catalogue again back on streaming and digital…
This will of course include our albums, the EPs and also single releases with b-sides not previously available outside our Bandcamp.

Full disclosure, the reissues will be available almost everywhere but you will not find them on Spotify or Amazon any time soon. As independent musicians we are striving to do things true to that word: To try our best to not support or depend on things that we cannot stand behind. Being able to decide for ourselves where our music should be present and presented, it really feels like a no-brainer to not put it in the hands of platforms that actively support warfare, drone tech, data centers, exploitation of artists, you name it… We frankly do not want to have anything to do with this and in our heart of hearts we hope you understand, perhaps even feel about this in a similar way, too.

We know we are only a small band, but let‘s do this right.

I am thrilled to announce that my recent show at Salon Wellenmaschine in Berlin will receive an official release via @magneticdrift on July 23! The album spans 5 tracks across 34+ minutes, performed live and improvised on two synthesizers, a cassette 4-track, assorted effect units, a music box and a microphone. No computers or sequencers were used.

𝘗𝘙𝘌 𝘌𝘊𝘏𝘖: 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘶𝘦𝘳 𝘡𝘶𝘬𝘶𝘯𝘧𝘵 documents a performance in Leipzig from 2019 in three longform movements. created on the spot with 4-track cassette deck, analog mono synth, assorted fx and voice, all improvised. I am happy this is available again… now with updated cover art and the performance coming in three sonic movements: pre echo, mid echo, and post echo.
