POSTS STORIES REELS

We had the incredible honor of planning Hollywood legend Don Bellisario’s 90th birthday this past weekend—a true Montecito red carpet celebration fit for the man who created some of television’s most beloved shows.

On August 9th, Don’s home was transformed into an elegant, star-studded affair for over 200 guests, including family, friends, and a galaxy of actors from his hit series Quantum Leap, JAG, and NCIS. From the moment guests arrived, the night was pure Hollywood magic—stepping out onto a vibrant red carpet, greeted by “paparazzi” flashes and the sight of a vintage Jaguar in the drive.

Don, dashing in a white tuxedo jacket, and Vivienne, stunning in a pink floral Oscar de la Renta gown, welcomed their guests with warmth and style. The evening was filled with laughter, reunions, heartfelt tributes, and an undeniable sense of gratitude for a career—and a life—well lived.

Here’s to 90 years of storytelling brilliance, Don.

Hi friends! I’m Lindsey, owner of Magnolia Event Design & Planning. For the past 25 years, I’ve had the joy of creating celebrations that bring people together in beautiful and meaningful ways. ✨

Beyond the world of events, I’m a wife, mom, and dog mom to our Cavalier King Charles, Pierre (he’s the real boss of the house 🐶). I also proudly run the Parker H. Bainter Foundation, created in honor of my late son, to help families stay united while their children are hospitalized ❤️.

I was born and raised in Santa Barbara and now split life between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles. When I’m not designing events, you’ll usually find me traveling, cooking, or gardening — currently counting down the days until my figs and passion fruit are ready to harvest! 🌿🍑

Can’t wait to share more of the things I love, the stories behind the celebrations I plan, and the causes close to my heart. by @magnoliaed

We used mirror tables with gold bases in three different styles for our dining tables and paired them with four different seating options- curved couches, clam chairs, contempo chairs and Oz chairs all from @rentalavenue They were the touch of glam and elegance we needed and using different items provided movement while staying within the same color palette. Sharon of @knotjustflowers created unique floral designs for each of the three styles of tables and @littlepostagehouse created stunning menus, table numbers and signage that kept the theme cohesive.

Designing and producing Don Bellisario’s 90th birthday celebration was a dream come true. We brought his “Hollywood Legend” theme to life with a sophisticated palette of navy, gold, and cream, and a custom dance floor inspired by Don’s own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. ✨

Guests were treated to an unforgettable evening—starting with a red carpet entrance and moving into a culinary experience by Schaffer that was as artful as it was delicious. From Dungeness crab puffs and lamb sliders to a four-course dinner of roasted filet mignon and sautéed branzino, every bite was perfection. Dessert? A citrus birthday cake, mini sweets, and servers passing out popcorn and Red Vines for a playful nod to the movies.

Bars served custom cocktails, including a tropical Magnum P.I.–inspired tiki bar with drinks like “Sunset Over Oahu” and “The Red Ferrari.”

A 26-piece orchestra filled the night with music from Don’s most iconic shows before shifting into dance classics, and Montecito’s own Natalie Noone-Pressly delivered a breathtaking performance of How Do I Live.

The night ended with a show-stopping four-tier cake from Lele Patisserie—wrapped in a film reel of Don’s life—while a slideshow and photo booth captured even more memories.

What an honor to celebrate such a remarkable life and legacy.

There’s a certain magic that happens when the music isn’t just background noise—it’s the soul of the celebration.

As a planner, I can tell you: nothing elevates an event quite like a truly exceptional band. The kind that doesn’t just perform, but curates an experience. Seamlessly reading the room, building energy, and turning the evening into something electric, elegant, and unforgettable.

🎶 From a soulful cocktail hour set to a high-energy reception that keeps the dance floor full all night—live music adds depth, sophistication, and emotion that a playlist simply can’t replicate.

The florals will be stunning. The lighting will be perfection. But it’s the music that makes people feel.

And in luxury events, how your guests feel is everything.
