Creating a little beauty & joy as part of my independent fine art brand as well as a partner of @murphywoodart for rustic work.

POSTS STORIES REELS

2025 was the Lunar Year of the Wood Snake, which was appropriate because it signifies personal growth, shedding old habits, & introspection. This year, I put myself out there more than ever, knowing that safety & growth rarely co-exist. It was uncomfortable, unsettling, & often frustrating as I navigated skills that don’t come easily to me.

The first step in learning is realizing how much you don’t know. My insecurities grew, uncertainty rose, & I wanted to quit on a near daily basis. But I kept going & pushing forward, for better or for worse. I exhibited my work in over 4 shows & launched my own line of canvas art & prints.

As I enter this new year, I am really proud of how far I’ve come, & I’m more at peace with how far I still have to go. Thank you to the Arts Council of Rockland (ACOR) for the opportunities & support. I’d also like to thank the people at the Piermont, Nyack, & Palisades Libraries for allowing me to show my work & clarify my purpose for creating.

Now that I’ve shed my proverbial skin, I look forward to 2026, which brings us into the Lunar Year of the Fire Horse Energy, characterized by passion & forward momentum. Let’s see what’s next because I’m ready &, hopefully, poised to launch!

Parents sacrifice. They plant seeds. They nurture what they can and some things they can’t. They do it despite exhaustion, limited resources, time constraints, & so many other hurdles Sometimes, it pays off. Sometimes quickly. Sometimes, it happens over time. Thank you for believing in me then & believing in me now. I’m so happy I could show this to you bc you made it possible starting all those years ago. ❤️

Parents, keep it up. It matters.

Happy early Mother’s Day to my mom. ❤️

"As a creative, you put so much of yourself into your work. When others think enough of your work to spend their hard-earned money on it, it’s very rewarding. We’ve had the opportunity to make many meaningful pieces for our clients. Whether it was to memorialize a loved one, celebrate a milestone, or bring custom beauty to an important space, we relish the times that our work elicits an emotional response and brings joy...Art gives us the chance to connect with other people in a deep and meaningful way."

Letting go is not always easy, but autumn is a masterclass in how to do so gracefully.

Fun Fact: Butterflies cannot fly if their body temperature drops below 86°F (30°C). They warm up by sunbathing or “shivering” their wings.

As temperatures drop, keep this butterfly close to remind us that they’ll soon return.

Tiny art brings touches of joy to your space. See more on my site linked in bio.

It was a brisk and beautiful day for Pearl River Day! It’s the people that make this community so special, so thank you for coming out to make it a great day.

Thank you to all those involved in making it so successful. As far as the eye could see, there were people gathering to eat, drink, shop, & socialize. I wish I could’ve gotten more footage of the event itself, but I barely had a chance to leave my tiny space.

To the @pearl_river_chamber , the organizers, and Woodwill events, thank you for all the hard work you poured into this event to support our town, local vendors, and businesses.

To the @otownpoliceofficial Orangetown Police Department and Orangetown Highway Department, thank you for facilitating a safe, clean, and organized event.

To everyone who stopped by from Pearl River and nearby (or far away) towns, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to enjoy all that Pearl River has to offer and to support our businesses.

If we inadvertently left anyone out, please let us know in the comments so we can acknowledge their efforts!

If you missed us, you can visit our sites to see what have in stock!

Until next year, Pearl River!

“Not all storms come to disrupt your life; some come to clear your path.” -Paulo Coelho

It’s hopeful to think that when things are fallling apart, they might actually be falling into place - that our paths are being made clear.

If you are going through a storm, keep the faith. Things might turn out better than you imagine.

As part of a class, I did an artist study of an Edward Hopper painting. What I learned transcended art, especially with regards to what he communicates about light and how we see things.

1. Light changes everything.

Sometimes it’s not what you’re looking at that needs to change.

It’s the way you’re looking at it.

2. Shadows aren’t always gray.

Things don’t always have to look the way we expect them to in order to be beautiful. I used blue in this shadow instead of just black or gray - who knew the effect it would have?!

3. You can’t have light without darkness.

Contrast is what makes us appreciate what shines. My teacher always say, “Don’t be afraid of the darks.” I think about that often.

4. Less can be more.

When we quiet the noise, we sometimes notice what was important all along.

When everything is grabbing our attention, it’s hard to discern what actually deserves it.

5. Your perspective matters.

We can look at the same thing and see something completely different.

Maybe that’s what I love most about art.

It teaches us to slow down, look closer, and see things differently.

And sometimes, when we change the way we look at something...
we change the way we experience it.
