We asked some of our team what their favourite thing about rowing is.

Funnily enough… not a single person said ergs 😂

Most said the people!!

Fair enough 💙 Turns out spending hundreds of hours suffering together is a pretty good way to make friends! by @magsrownz

A huge congratulations to our very own Holly Chaafe on being presented her red coat last weekend.

After rowing for MAGS from 2015-2019. Holly has continued her rowing through WERC. She continued to coach and work closely with the team for many years to follow and has given countless hour and years of knowledge back to MAGROW.

This is the first redcoat for MAGSROW since we started back in 2008 and the FIRST EVER redcoats for a female MAGS rower!

Congrats Holly, we will always be cheering for you!! 🎊🎊 by @magsrownz

We’ve spent a bit of time over winter talking about the kind of squad we want to be this season - what we stand for, what we expect from each other and what we want the MAGS Row culture to look like.

Last culture session done, novices officially thrown into the mix, and naturally we finished with a very serious game of buddy up buddy down 🤩

The squad is coming together and we’re pretty excited about it.

A rather special visitor at the Laszlo workshop today. 🚣‍♂️

Ted Rattray from Mount Albert Grammar School, coached by Theo Brown, won one of the Maadi Legacy singles last season.

Today, he came to see where the boat that will carry his legacy is being made — and to meet the people behind it.

A lovely moment connecting the athlete, the story, and the craftsmanship behind the boat.

Kia ora, Ted. Welcome to Laszlo. 💙 by @magsrownz

A pretty good night for the blue and gold!

West End’s annual prizegiving wrapped up the season, with a bunch of MAGS rowers picking up awards across the club.

At one point we considered just leaving Ted at the front of the room.

A huge congratulations to:

🏆 Sabine – Top Junior School Rower (Female)
🏆 Ted – Top Senior School Rower (Male)
🏆 Olivia A – Top Senior School Rower (Female)
🏆 Ted – Overall Best School Rower
🏆 Ted – Most Wins for the Season (13 wins across the entire club - not just school)
🏆 Caleb & Linus – Most Successful Crew of the Year (again across the entire club)

Special mention as well to our nominees:

👏 Johnny – Top School Coxswain
👏 U17 Girls 4x+ – Most Successful Crew of the Year
👏 Olivia & Theo – Coaches Cup
👏 Ted – Club Male Rower of the Year

Awesome recognition for what has been one of the most successful years MAGS Rowing has had in a long time.

Couldn’t be prouder 👏👏👏 by @magsrownz

Spend a morning with us at Learn to Row 🚣

With nearly 50 kids signed up to our Learn to Row Program this season, our Sunday mornings are a little busy… and we love it.

It’s been awesome seeing our returning rowers buddy up with the novices, helping them learn the ropes and see what MAGSROW is all about.

We’ve also had some of our departing seniors jump in and have a crack at coaching, which has been pretty cool to see.

There’s a lot to learn when you’re new to rowing, but the novices are doing a great job and getting stuck in.

Plenty of good energy around already and the season hasn’t even started yet 🩵 taken in West End Rowing Club by @magsrownz

Last night we got to come together and celebrate the season that was MAGSROW 25/26 🩵

A chance for the whole squad to pause, reflect, and look back on what’s been a seriously special year.

Yes, the results were awesome. But what we’re most proud of is the standard this group set - the effort, the resilience, and the way everyone showed up for each other all season long.

We also had the chance to recognise some outstanding performances with our end-of-season awards - huge congrats to all our award winners 👏 well deserved. Have a swipe though to check them all out!

At the same time, this season wasn’t built by a few individuals. It was built by every single person in this squad.

A massive thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters - we couldn’t do this without you. Your backing means everything to this programme and to our athletes.

This is just the beginning.
The standard has been set.

Bring on next season 🔥 by @magsrownz
