🎤 Student advice, straight from the pros.

At today's "AI and the New Rules of Cinema: Experience, Economics & Ethics Behind the Camera" — presented by LA Times Studios and the Empire Club of Canada — a student in the audience asked a question that hit close to home for anyone starting out in a creative or entertainment career: What's your best advice for students entering the industry, and which career paths are most at risk from AI?

Moderator Anna Magzanyan (President, LA Times Studios & NantGames) didn't hold back: "learn AI alongside whatever path you choose. An attorney who understands AI will always be more valuable than one who doesn't. Treat it as a tool in your toolbox, not a threat to your passion — if you make AI part of your journey, it won't replace you."

Shamier Anderson (Actor, Co-CEO BayMillsStudios) built on that, encouraging students to diversify their skillset beyond a single craft — writing, producing, directing, and understanding equity and ownership — so they're "not just the painter, but the one who knows how to sell the painting too."
