Wrapping up a BIG couple of weeks with lots of travelling to visit players and clubs 💪

In between, I also had the privilege to rejoin my friends Javier Gómez and Miguel Ángel Gil Marín at the World Football Summit in Madrid 🇪🇸

We sat on the same panel in 2016, so it was a great chance to come back together and reflect on all that has shifted in football over that time - answer, a lot!! We cannot deny the HUGE impact those guys have had on Spanish football. I really admire them and it was special to share the stage again 10 years later.

I spoke on behalf of the PFA about two main topics - the importance of football establishing new governance systems which allow players a greater say in how the game is run. And, why we must fix the spiralling calendar to protect both the players and football itself. As I always say, Christmas is nice because it is not every Tuesday!! We must rediscover the value of scarcity.

I was also proud to talk about the incredible progress of our @thepfabusiness , which proves players are willing and able to lead football as executives once they stop playing.

Another big week ahead so onwards!

Another deeply proud moment for me and our @thepfabusiness School team.

I can’t quite believe a year has passed since our inaugural ceremony, but yesterday we were privileged once again to celebrate our second graduating class of the PFA Business School.

We have said this time and time again - footballers are capable of far more than they’re given credit for. They are unfairly characterised as not being suited, or interested, in pursuing activities outside of football.

And then, when they do, they’re told they’re being distracted from the main job at hand on the pitch... “stick to football” I know we’ve all heard countless times when a player dares show passion for something away from football.

I reject these sentiments so strongly. And this graduation is such a powerful antidote to that outdated narrative.

Among our graduates yesterday - sat proudly in their gowns after many months, and in some cases, years of study - were players and former players who have chosen to pursue a path that challenges them and pushes them out of their comfort zone. They ALL deserve our complete respect.

In his speech, our PFA Business School Director, Alejandro Cárdenas Díaz, urged the graduating class to be “challengers” - I loved this. Make noise, challenge the status quo, and grasp the opportunities that come your way.

They are capable and they have what it takes, I have absolutely no doubt about that, and we will be doing all we can to help them land the roles they deserve.

Now more than ever we need players to stay within football once they retire. We need them back out on the pitch nurturing talent, off the pitch making decisions on how clubs should run, and we need them in governance.

We need passionate, smart custodians of the game and yesterday I was proud to see graduates who I know will go on to be just that.

Congratulations to all of our graduates, and a heartfelt thank you to our entire PFA Business School team - as well as all our amazing colleagues across the union - who continue to push us to new levels.

WOW - what a night 🏆👏

I’m rarely speechless 😂 but I’m struggling to put into words just how fantastic Tuesday’s PFA Awards evening was.

There aren’t many nights in football where stars from every professional men’s and women’s division come together under one roof, and we never take for granted how special that is.

What I love most about the evening is that the world gets to see what we’re lucky enough to see throughout the year - our members away from the pitch, gracious in success and so willing to celebrate and uplift one another.

It’s also an immense privilege for me personally to share these career-defining moments with our members, often alongside the family and friends who have helped them get this far. They are such special memories for me and I hope the players too.

Congratulations to Bruno and Bunny, all of our divisional winners and, of course, our inimitable Merit Award winners, Sir Kenny Dalglish and Karen Carney OBE. It was a real honour to have you with us.

To ALL of our members who joined us, you really are the best in the business - on and off the pitch. ❤️

Done with my 6th club visit in 10 days! That’s definitely the part of the job I enjoy the most. Being able to share with the players the latest developments on the work we do for them at the PFA and hear first hand what are the issues that matter the most to them in invaluable! How it started… How it's going 🧤

Été 2015 => Libre après la fin de son premier contrat pro à Toulouse, @mpasil16 rejoint l'UNFP Football Club pour garder le rythme et rebondir.

Été 2026 => Le voilà à la Coupe du Monde, dans les buts de la RD Congo. 🇨🇩

Et il est loin d'être seul à incarner ce chemin. L'été dernier, de l'autre côté de la Manche, Angus Gunn passait par le stage des joueurs libres organisé par @the_pfa , nos confrères du syndicat anglais. Aujourd'hui ? Il est au Mondial avec l'Écosse, le numéro 1 dans le dos. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Deux gardiens, deux parcours, une même conviction : quand un joueur se retrouve libre, il n'est jamais seul.

L'UNFP et PFA, deux syndicats qui transforment une période d'incertitude en tremplin, pour que chacun puisse rebondir et exprimer tout son potentiel. 💪

Et cette histoire ne demande qu'à s'écrire encore : le 8 juillet prochain, l'UNFP FC disputera un match de préparation face à PFA. Un rendez-vous qui prend, désormais, tout son sens. 🤝
