في عددنا الخاص باليوم الوطني السعودي، نحتفي بحكاية وطن تتوارث أجياله الحلم، ويمنح كل جيل فيها للجيل الذي يليه مساحة أوسع ليحلم ويبدع ويصنع أثره. على أغلفة “هي”، تجمعنا مريم الغامدي وإلهام علي ورسيل العتيبي بثلاث تجارب تنتمي إلى أزمنة مختلفة من الحكاية السعودية، وتلتقي في حاضر واحد نابض بالطموح. جيل فتح الأبواب، وجيل وسّع مساحة الحلم، وجيل يعبر اليوم نحو آفاق جديدة، حاملاً معه إرث من سبقه ورؤيته الخاصة لما سيأتي. ومن خلال قصصهن، نقرأ مسيرة وطن صُنعت تفاصيلها حلماً بعد حلم، وإنجازاً بعد إنجاز، حتى أصبح كل ما تحقق اليوم بداية لمساحة أكبر من الطموح. في اليوم الوطني السعودي، نحتفي بالسعودية وبأجيالها التي تواصل كتابة حكايتها… حكاية تتجدد مع كل حلم، وتمتد نحو مستقبل ما زالت أجمل فصوله تُكتب. In our special Saudi issue, we celebrate the story of a nation where every generation builds on the ambitions of the one before it, opening up new possibilities for the generation that follows. Across the covers of HIA, Mariam Alghamdi, Elham Ali and Raseel Al-Otaibi represent three generations of the Saudi story, each with a different journey, yet all part of a present driven by ambition. One generation opened the doors. Another widened the possibilities. And today, a new generation is moving towards new horizons, carrying the legacy of those who came before while bringing its own vision of what lies ahead. There are invitations I always look forward to accepting, and the Cartier Women’s Initiative is one of them. It holds a special place in my heart because it celebrates something I deeply believe in: empowering women and supporting entrepreneurs whose work creates meaningful impact in their communities. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year under the theme Women Lighting the Path, it brought together remarkable women from around the world who are transforming challenges into opportunities and ideas into lasting change. What touches me most is the human side behind each story. These are not simply business success stories… but stories of resilience, courage and determination. Despite the challenges they face, these women continue to create solutions that improve lives and strengthen their communities. Their journeys are a constant source of inspiration. I was particularly happy to see strong representation from the Arab world this year, including Salma Tammam from Egypt, founder of REME-D, Nidal Tefah from Morocco, founder of MIRRIAH, and Dali Rached from Morocco, who was recognised in the Science & Technology Pioneer category. Their achievements reflect the incredible talent, innovation and sense of purpose that exist across our region. I hope to see even more Arab women represented in future editions. I was also reminded of a conversation I had years ago with Cyrille Vigneron, then CEO of Cartier and today Chairman of Cartier Culture & Philanthropy. Speaking to Hia about the initiative, he described these entrepreneurs as “real women, with hearts, dreams, children, responsibilities and a world they are trying to make a better place.” He also spoke about the importance of supporting social entrepreneurship and creating a community where women share experiences, build lasting friendships and help one another grow. Those words felt especially meaningful in Bangkok, where women from different cultures and backgrounds came together with a desire to create positive change. As Cyrille said during that interview, what unites us is often far greater than what divides us. One of the things I loved most about the collection was the way it reinterprets the heritage of the House through a dreamlike world of colour, nature and imagination. Each creation felt like a work of art, where extraordinary gemstones, unexpected combinations of colours and exceptional craftsmanship come together in perfect harmony. Beyond the collection itself, the experience offered a glimpse into the creativity and savoir-faire that continue to define Dior, from the magical setting of Venice to the inspiring conversations shared throughout the journey. Thank you Cartier for an unforgettable journey into the world of Le Chœur des Pierre. One of the things I loved most about the collection was the way each creation is guided by the soul of the stone itself, every piece with its own rhythm, character, and emotion. It was an honor to attend Women in Cinema by the Red Sea Film Foundation during the Cannes Film Festival, an evening dedicated to women who continue to push cinema forward through the stories they tell, produce, direct, and bring to the screen. Under the leadership of Chairwoman Jomana Al Rashid, the Foundation brought together and celebrated six remarkable women from the Arab world, Africa, and Asia whose contributions continue to resonate across the industry internationally. A meaningful reminder that some of cinema’s most important perspectives have come from women who created space for themselves and for others through their work. كان شرفاً لي حضور فعالية “Women in Cinema” التي نظّمتها مؤسسة البحر الأحمر السينمائي خلال مهرجان “كان” السينمائي، وهي أمسية احتفت بالنساء اللواتي يواصلن دفع السينما إلى الأمام من خلال القصص التي يكتبنها، وينتجنها، ويخرجنها، ويقدمنها إلى الشاشة. تحت قيادة رئيسة مجلس أمناء المؤسسة جمانا الراشد، تم تكريم ست نساء استثنائيات من العالم العربي وأفريقيا وآسيا، ممن يواصل تأثيرهن صداه على مستوى الصناعة السينمائية عالمياً. تذكير جميل بأن بعض أهم الرؤى في الصناعة السينمائية جاءت من نساء استطعن أن يصنعن لأنفسهن، ولغيرهن، مساحة حقيقية من خلال أعمالهن. #WomenInCinema #RedSeaIFF #RedSeaFilmFoundation #Cannes #CannesFilmFestival by @maibadr5
