Archaeopteryx is often called the "first bird," although the story is a little more complicated than that. It lived around 150 million years ago and carries features of both non-avian dinosaurs and modern birds, making it one of the most famous transitional fossils ever discovered.
Seeing it in person was one of my highlights at Berlin's Museum für Naturkunde. It's a reminder that nature rarely fits into neat categories and that's part of what makes it so fascinating.

One part of the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin that I was a bit torn about was the taxidermy collection. Usually taxidermy gives me shivers, this one not at much.

There is something almost impossible about seeing so many different animals gathered together in one place. Creatures from different continents, habitats, and ecosystems, all preserved as part of a collection that helps document and study the natural world.

It also reminded me how much natural history museums are really museums of curiosity. They are built on generations of people wanting to observe, collect, preserve, and better understand the world around them. taken in Museum für Naturkunde Berlin by @maibeey

I need help narrowing this down before the Steam Summer Sale ends.

Would you go for a strange little world, a witchy routine, a quiet creative game, or choices with the potential to emotionally ruin your evening?

Which one from this list would you pick first?

Because buying games and playing games are apparently two different hobbies, and I am trying to make at least one sensible decision.

More Steam Summer Sale games I’ve actually played and would recommend.

This batch has a mountain survival game I somehow put 65 hours into, a bureaucratic afterlife where Twitch chat can help decide people’s fates, cozy cafés and bakeries, and the life sim that convinced me to uninstall The Sims 4.

I think a lot of us have accidentally turned enjoyment into another project.

The book has to teach us something.
The walk has to improve our health.
The hobby has to become productive.
The vacation has to be life-changing.

Sometimes it is enough to enjoy something simply because you enjoy it. Not everything has to become self-improvement to be worthwhile. by @maibeey

Apart from the giant crystal formations, I also ended up spending a surprising amount of time watching at the smaller mineral collection at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin.

There’s something almost overwhelming in the best way about seeing shelves filled with hundreds of different minerals, colors, textures, and crystal formations all collected together in one space. The deeper you looked, the more tiny details kept appearing everywhere.

This part of the museum felt a little like stepping into an old curiosity cabinet or archive, just entirely dedicated to the fact that nature apparently never gets tired of making rocks look incredible. Like just the opening view into this room is stunning.

And I have to admit I got a new orange calcite for myself 😂😅 taken in Naturkundemuseum Berlin by @maibeey

One of my favorite times of the year is back: Steam Next Fest. 🎮

I always tell myself I'll only try a few demos. Then my Steam wishlist explodes.

These are the first four games that caught my attention:

🦦 Otterly Lost
🦌 Deer & Boy
🌿 Leafy Corner
🍣 Ugoku Sushi Bar

Will I add 20 more demos to my wishlist?

Will I break my Infinity Nikki addiction?

We will see.
