Happy surgiversary to me - it’s been 3 years to the day since my elective septal myectomy. One thing I noticed in these few videos I have of my 4.5 days from open heart surgery to leaving the hospital is how caring, steadfast, and loving my wife was and how much gratitude I showed to staff, friends, and family. The whole world was on my side and supported me through this decision and outcome. The end results were not what I had hoped but I’m way past that now and living a better, healthier, fuller life thanks to my care team and the marvels of modern medicine. Now is the best time to be diagnosed with HCM than ever before.

I hope my journey gives strength to someone who needs it the most- you can do anything if the conditions are right. Never doubt it. Never doubt yourself.

The first Big Hearted 5K was a huge success! 200+ people came out and we raised over $22,000 dollars from 292 donors for @4hcmwarriors !!! Thank you to everyone who supported team Hearts of Commerce!! You inspired me to keep going the $5K for the 5K and we did amazing— 54 donors, over $6300, over 25% of the total amount. Every time I asked, you responded with kindness. ❤️

Enjoy this recap of the race from my perspective as I went through the course! I now have a time to beat for the next one.

This is just the beginning of what we will achieve as a team.

In the past I would have been huffing and puffing after running up the stairs 2x but not anymore thanks to life changing medication: camzyos (mavacamten)by @bristolmyerssquibb , my septal myectomy, and an INCREDIBLE PERSPECTIVE SHIFT. Every day I wake up is a blessing, and I hope to stay in that mindset, because despite my hardships I am incredibly fortunate.

Stop thinking you can’t access politics if you are a regular American sitting at home!! The offices are open to the public and you can make a change. Come to DC, come organized, bring a concise message! Start with your home district and work from there.
