Because boys deserve whimsical childhoods too.✹

Comment “whimsy” if you’d love this list of books.

**Not necessary to say, yet clear enough, these books are for all, young, old, and everyone in between. Books should be a joyous thing, especially children’s books, and these ones have brought many giggles and sparkle into mornings and afternoons sharing these stories.

Enjoy.✹ by @maiesplay

Making a space for one of our most valued skills✹.

Creativity.

Using some wood, twine and good timing I was able to put together this sweet little homeschool art drying/display rack.

It’s a great option to make the most of drying their gorgeous pieces of art as well as displaying them as a form of art appreciation.

Teaching my kids to read - Part 3

**remember always keep it fun. I never put pressure on learning to read. If there’s one way to ruin the joy to learn, it’s to force it.

** these lessons were built on top of years of exposure to language through reading, talking, singing and exploring books every day. Never underestimate the power of sharing a good story with your little ones. by @maiesplay

When family values shape the choices you make.. ✹

Comment “SHELF” if you’d love this link dropped into your DMs.

This little corner is getting a new purpose.

The rocking horse has been loved well, but it’s time to make room for something that reflects one of our family’s deepest values.. sharing stories.

A quiet space for little hands to reach for books and precious moments to be shared, one page at a time. 📚✹

When reading becomes a family value, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Every story shared builds language, sparks curiosity, strengthens connection, and nurtures a lifelong love of learning.

P.S this will get fixed to the wall as soon as I find the drill.đŸ€

P.P.S horsey isn’t gone.. just parked somewhere else for now.🎠 by @maiesplay

Can you guess this weeks theme? đŸ„đŸđŸƒđŸ„•đŸȘ»đŸ§”

This is still one of my favourite ways to decorate the homeschool room and get my little ones excited for a new weekly theme.

Teaching kindergarten science as a mum homeschooling. đŸȘŽâœš

Comment “SPACE” if you’d love the book links for this week’s homeschool lessons.

The method is simple and works seamlessly for our homeschool week.
Here’s the flow I use to plan a homeschool week:
1- Choose a core theme or topic.
2- Begin by exploring the topic with a “spine” book.
This is similar to a textbook and provides a clear breakdown of the subject along with key facts and information.
3- Introduce a few “living books.” These are engaging nonfiction books written with passion and narrative flair, designed to spark curiosity and deepen interest in the topic.
4- Add one or two related crafts to help reinforce and cement the concepts in a hands on way.
5- Finish with thematic sensory play the cherry on top of the homeschooling cake.

Sensory activities create a natural opportunity to revisit the week’s learning, encourage discussion, and role play or explore any additional concepts that need further reinforcement.

If you have any questions about our homeschool week.

Here are five beautiful toys that are reached for time and time again.

They’re the kind of toys I’ll happily sit on the floor and play with too. The magic of open-ended toys is that they grow alongside your child. There are no rules, no right or wrong way to play.

Kids need to know đŸŒ±đŸȘŽ

Through tending gardens, watching seasons unfold, and caring for living things, children come to know that they belong to the natural world, not apart from it.

With hands in the soil and hearts full of wonder, children cultivate patience, gratitude, resilience, and compassion. Each seed planted, raindrop gathered, and harvest shared becomes a quiet lesson in caring for the Earth, caring for one another, and taking only what is needed.

That’s why exploring and sharing stories like these which celebrate the earth and skill that is growing is ‘planting seeds’ that will continue to grow long after childhood.

If you’d love to share these stories with your little ones, comment “GROW” and I’ll drop the links in your DMs. by @maiesplay

Resetting for the week ahead.

New week, new theme 🌚🌞

This has become such a joyful routine for me and my little ones. They always get such a surprise to see the new board and theme of the week.

It truly is such a satisfying process drawing with chalk.
I love using this set of mini chalk pieces which give a gorgeous variety of colours to play with. Did you know chalk also works on paper. Have you tried? Let me know in the comments. by @maiesplay
