I studied for the INBDE for 3 weeks and passed on my first try! Here’s what I did:

1) I used an online prep platform to narrow down the subjects.

I used INBDE Bootcamp with 1 month access (get 3 months if you want more time, it’s not much more). Use code MAILISMILES for $$$ off!

2) I didn’t write any notes!

I went through the INBDE Bootcamp High-Yield Notes (5-20 pages per subject) and practiced active recall instead of rewriting a billion notes. For harder sections, I’d write things out to remember them better.

3) I followed the AI calendar schedule.

Enter your start date, test date, and study days per week, and it tells you which topics and questions to cover each day.

4) I didn’t give up when my scores were low.

In week 1, I scored low on some topics and almost pushed my test date back. After 2 weeks of consistent notes and practice questions, my scores jumped. By week 3, I was well above my goal range and felt ready at 2.5 weeks.

5) I did the practice questions over and over.

This was the most important step! Knowing the question style is just as important as knowing the content. I’d read the question, then explain in my head why each answer choice was there.

Example, for an endo diagnosis question, I would look at the answers and try to explain what each one is.
Answer options:
Normal pulp
Reversible pulpitis
Symptomatic irreversible pulpitis
Pulp necrosis
I would quickly run through the facts about each diagnosis.
• Normal pulp: healthy, no spontaneous pain, brief cold sensation
• Reversible pulpitis: irritated but can heal, pain to cold/sweets that stops in seconds
• Symptomatic irreversible pulpitis: lingering pain to cold/heat, spontaneous, wakes you up
• Pulp necrosis: dead pulp, no response to cold/electric test

One question becomes a mini review session! Everyone is different, so try what works for you and don’t get discouraged. Each day you are one step closer to becoming a dentist! ◡̈
