The dehumanization of women is in the air we breathe - so much so, that daily subjugations seem unremarkable.
By my age - I’ve learned to navigate it fairly well, but I hate that I have to. And I hate knowing that young women and children will have learn the hard way.

What happens at universities is happening across the country. And men protect each other because many of them don’t view us as people. To them we are simply vessels, assistants, show pieces, or fidget spinners.
And by the way, I know some wonderful men. I’m not talking about them.
the ones I’m talking about
launch smear campaigns on women - that’s usually where it begins - with words.
Their contemptuous attacks seep into our daily lives. From world leaders to video gamers to universities to workplaces to churches and so on. It’s ever present.
When a female client decides to speak up to a male contractor, he runs to the message boards and dehumanizes, blacklists, and sexualizes her, putting her in danger from every other creep, while other grown men who know better, stand by and do nothing.

Actual churches in my town call women “witches” and “demons.” From the pulpit and on the airwaves.
It’s 2026.
And podcasters are decrying women voting and quote “women having unsupervised access to one another all the time.”
These men make the world dangerous for ALL of us.
Because frankly, it’s mostly women protecting and caring for the most vulnerable.
What to do: Decent men of the world, please stand up to your friends.
And to the Women and girls and boys and and anyone targeted and dehumanized:
No one is coming to save us or they’d have done it by now.
1. Know your worth. You are priceless.
2. Tend to your friendships. I turned 60 this year, and I had 17 very dear friends over to celebrate and make things and laugh. If you don’t have community, start building it now.
3. When you’re out in the world, Listen to your gut. It knows things before your brain does. I promise. I still recommend Gavin DeBecker’s book, The Gift of Fear. Please Consider reading it.
4. Vote. Vote early. Get it done.
