🚨 THREE HOURS UNTIL DOWNBEAT! 🚨 Press play to hear guitarist Mark Bowers and tenor saxophonist @TommyMorimoto absolutely locking it in! 🎸🎷The music is happening TONIGHT, Wednesday, August 19th, at Jazzcultural! As a reminder, our brother Mel Davis is currently in the hospital, and we are sending him all our prayers. Taking the driver’s seat on organ tonight to lead this incredible quartet is the phenomenal Matt Smythe, alongside the legendary Tommy Campbell on drums! 🥁🎹This clip is just a tiny taste of the heavy, groove-filled setlist we have lined up for you (The World Is A Ghetto, Road Song, Back at the Chicken Shack, and more!).Let’s pack this room, support live jazz, and lift up Mel! 🎶✨📍 Jazzcultural (349 W. 46th St, NYC)⏰ Sets: 7:00 PM & 9:00 PM (Seating at 6:00 PM & 8:30 PM)🎟️ Tickets: Last-minute seats are available NOW! I've wanted to do this for a while. I probably could've picked more challenging pics, but anyway, for my real jazz enthusiasts, who is who? by @mainmanmatts

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to this man and his music. The way I voice chords and progressions as a composer and in moments of spontaneity comes from me wanting my music to sound like his records. He wasn't just a vibraphone player, he was literally the whole vibe. I was blessed to meet this hero of mine many years ago. RIP Roy Ayers and thank you. by @mainmanmatts

Just found out Lou Donaldson passed away this weekend. I was fortunate to have met him and seen him play numerous times. I wish I had the opportunity to play with him. One of my favorite saxophone players and recording artists. On and off stage he had a great sense of humor and wasn't afraid to speak his mind. Thank you Sweet Poppa Lou by @mainmanmatts

Today is my work day birthday. 20 years in education! iykyk every year an educator completes is nearly a miracle. Shout out to God and His incomparable grace for 20 years, my wife @thalie.titi for taking care of me and being with me for a majority of these years, my cousin Renee for "hookin' a bruh up" thank you so much cuz! For all of those that were with me, still with me, those that are with me now and those that I will meet in the future
Can't forget some of the ones that got their heavenly promotions RIP Bobbi Bridges, Katie Lamar, and Joan Strickland (the first woman who greeted me in the school building and showed me where to go on my first day)
To all educators out there if you read this far, may God cover you and the people you service, may you finish your school years with style and grace. Even when the only math that's mathing is the math you teach .Peace!!! taken in Roselle, New Jersey by @mainmanmatts
