💕BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 🎀

As a breast cancer patient advocate for nearly 7 years, a breast cancer warrior/survivor for 4 years, and an ultrasound technologist with 20 years in breast health, I’m asking us to do more than just wear pink and walk.

If you’re walking to honor those fighting, those who are still here, and those who didn’t make it.. HONOR THEM BY TAKING CARE OF YOU TOO. Do your self-breast exams, MEN AND WOMEN. Have the conversations. Talk to your teens about breast health. Ladies, if you haven’t had your mammogram, SCHEDULE IT AND GO! 💕💕

Wear the pink. Walk the walk. But honor them by being proactive about your own breast health.🎀

October 1st. A month that holds so much meaning for me. Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Two battles I never imagined I would have to fight, but in 2022, I fought breast cancer, and I’ve also fought my way out of a relationship that left scars no one could see. Both tested me in ways I can’t fully put into words, but I’m still here.

So this month, I’m holding space for every breast cancer warrior and survivor, and for those we’ve lost. For every person who has suffered at the hands of someone who claimed to love them, and for those still finding the strength to leave, rebuild, and choose themselves. Whether you’re still fighting, healing, starting over, or simply trying to make it through today, this month is for YOU.

Like the sun peeking through the clouds, may you find light even after your darkest days. Your story matters. Your life matters. And no matter what you’ve survived, I pray you never forget that there is still light ahead.

Today, my grandmother would have been 101. Yesterday, while taking this 5 hour drive. I found myself talking to her, sharing how much I miss her and how forever grateful I am for the woman she was and the lessons she left with me. As I looked to my left and saw the sun shining, it felt like her way of reminding me that everything is okay. Her love, her wisdom, and her spirit live within me every single day. Happy heavenly birthday, Gramma💜
