My dad 👨‍👧- the one who inspired me to try out the entrepreneurial journey …

From the time I was a little girl, on Saturdays I would go spend time with my dad at his shop in Nairobi city centre - I would watch him work, I would be busy playing with rolls of fabric and would accompany him to see clients!

Surrounded by textiles and understanding so much about the industry he is in, I grew up LOVING all textiles.

I have watched my dad work incredibly hard from the time i was young to now… life has definitely given him sooo many challenges where he lost a lot, but he also never gave up and rebuilt again!

His resilience and approach to life is so inspiring - he loves what he does and at 79 so clued on and knowledgeable about everything! 🙏🏼

Following his footsteps, I built Maisha - It was always within passed down by my dad and his dad. He is my biggest cheerleader and critic, he accompanies me on all my business trips and my constant guide when I’m feeling lost. I’m so so so grateful for always encouraging me, teaching me and pushing me out of my comfort zone (in a good way)! Love you so much dad!

Constantly learning, being curious and being amongst is all is what I’m all about. For me at Maisha, I want to know and learn every single step of making our collection and I want to meet every single person who is part of our journey - that is why I feel every piece we make is a story of different amazing people and I want to share that whole journey with you!

Hand made takes time, requires so much skill and diligence, you can’t hurry it and there will be some mistakes but that’s the charm of creating something from scratch using age old techniques … that is art! That is creating magic ✨

I’m the founder and designer of Maisha Concept and I am all about promoting and celebrating age-old craft and artisans from Kenya 🇰🇪 and India 🇮🇳 - why those two regions? Because I’m 3rd generation Kenyan of Indian origin.

I’m here to talk about our feel-good clothing, signature hand-made textiles, artisan-made luxuries, supporting communities, greener future and resurrecting age-old traditions. Plus I’ll throw in a little bit about things I love such as travel, wellness, food etc

Behind every indigo piece are skilled hands, patient work and the beauty of natural dye. That care continues with you - these hand-dyed textiles deserve a little extra gentleness when washing and wearing.

Some colour may release during the first few washes, and the shade may soften over time. It’s part of indigo’s evolving character, making your piece more personal with every wear.

💧 Gently hand wash separately in cold water with a mild, bleach-free detergent.
💧 Never wash with whites or other colours.
💧 Avoid soaking, scrubbing and wringing.
💧 Dry inside out in the shade, and keep away from light-coloured fabrics while damp.
