🚨 Please read & share 🚨 Her name is Lila — a female French Bulldog, 1.5 years old, microchipped, dark brindle with a white patch on her chest. She went missing on Thursday, September 3rd. She went out into her fenced yard around 6 AM, like every morning — and within 10 minutes she was gone. Her owner has searched everywhere: neighbors, shelters, vets, driving the area between Loznica and Šabac every day. No one has seen anything. Lila is on medication and a special diet — she needs her treatment. There is reason to believe she was stolen and possibly taken out of Serbia. I've never told this part publicly. 🤎 2024. I drove out to get one pregnant Frenchie out of a bad place. The price changed, it turned, there were too many of them — I dropped the money, grabbed her, and ran. I came home with a fractured skull and her in the passenger seat. I don't breathe right through my nose anymore. I'd do it again tomorrow. She's safe now — spayed, loved, living 7 minutes from me. That was dog #1. There have been 200+ since 2012. No office. No salaries. Just us — and you. 🤎 Now: 4 saved, 16 to go before Christmas. We've only ever asked for help twice. This is the third. I collected her yesterday. She's at my vet now — warm, fed, and finally safe. Then the test results came back: distemper and giardia. She's now isolated and receiving supportive care while her body fights the virus. And she's not the only one. The first girl is still in treatment for heartworm, pyoderma, a severe ear infection, cataracts in both eyes, and mild pulmonic stenosis. Both girls are under veterinary care right now. This rescue is ongoing. Donations help cover diagnostics, medication, isolation, hospital days, and whatever care they need during recovery. 31 people have donated $3,101 so far. Day 2 update. ❤️ Thanks to 16 amazing people, we've already raised $1,775 for this sweet girl. Every donation goes directly toward her treatment. Today's examination revealed the extent of what years of neglect had done to her. She's only about 3 years old, yet our veterinarian estimates she's already undergone 4–5 C-sections. She has infections affecting multiple internal organs, severe uterine damage that will require surgery, a hernia, cataracts, mid-stage demodex, and she's extremely weak and malnourished. She wasn't even microchipped. The hardest part wasn't a diagnosis. When I gently reached out to pet her, she pulled away and her body tensed. She's learned to fear human hands. Our veterinarian believes she was likely being prepared to be bred again during her next heat cycle. Not anymore. From now on, her only job is to heal. Last night, I received some disturbing photos of a French Bulldog girl. I immediately called the breeder. He agreed to sell her, so I got in the car and drove there. The "breeder" agreed to sell her. It was well after midnight by the time we arrived at my vet's clinic. My vet and his team opened the clinic so she could be examined right away. She was started on IV fluids, and she's now receiving the care she needs. The vet's opinion is that recovery will take some time. Once she's healthy enough, she'll be spayed so she can never be used for breeding again. That's something we do with every dog we rescue. I've been running Frenchie World since 2014, and in all those years I've only asked for your help twice. Today, I'm asking again because I simply can't do this alone. In those years, we've rescued more than 200 French Bulldogs directly. The real number is likely much higher, because we've also supported other rescues, shelters, and families whenever we could. I don't keep track of every dog we've helped. That's why asking for help has never been easy for me. In 12 years, this is only the third time I've had to ask. Due to personal and private circumstances, I simply can't carry these costs alone anymore. Right now, I have two rescued puppies in my care. One senior girl is almost ready to leave the vet, and now this girl has just begun her recovery. Rescuing her was only the beginning. There's the one who feeds her, and there's the one she waits for. Not always the same person — and everyone in the house knows which is which. Frenchies bond hard and narrow. One primary person, chosen early, chosen for reasons that have nothing to do with who does the work. It isn't gratitude and it isn't food. It's usually whoever was calmest in the first few weeks. Two local daredevils scaled the Empire State Building this week to make a statement, got engaged at the summit, and were promptly arrested. Ours climbed it to inform you the pavement is too hot for walkies. No ring. No arrest. Just a public service. Priorities, as ever, intact. 🤎 by @maisondogue
