We first saw this house over FaceTime, and even through a screen, I felt something. I fell in love with her history, her character, her soul.

But seeing her in person was something else entirely. Everywhere I looked, there were these little gems I hadn’t noticed on a screen. The kinds of details that make an old house feel completely one of a kind.

The sweeping staircase. Tiny skeleton-key locks still tucked into the living room doors. Ram’s heads sculpted into the plaster fireplace, perhaps my favorite detail in the entire house. Old brass lanterns I thought I’d replace when I saw the listing photos, then immediately fell in love with in person. A wonderfully weathered duck spigot outside. The texture and subtle color variations of the slate roof. And finally, the little pineapple carved above the door, a centuries-old symbol of hospitality and welcome.

After a year and a half of so much change, we came back East and found a place that already had a story of its own.

Built in 1930, this old house has lived many lives before ours, and now we get to add our chapter.

More than anything, it feels good to put down roots. To give our kids a place that feels steady and lasting. A home to grow into, care for, and slowly make our own.

Here’s to the next chapter. 🤍

For me, having houseguests is all about the little things.

For this weekend, I filled little Weck jars with sweets from @thevillageconfectionery in Sleepy Hollow, then made our own Pecksland House Nuts: roasted mixed nuts dipped in milk chocolate and finished with flaky sea salt.

I also made Linden Summer Mist, a linen mist inspired by the beautifully fragrant linden tree in our backyard, to leave beside the bed.

Fresh flowers, cold water, a bedside candle and a few thoughtful comforts waiting in the room.

Because a beautiful home is lovely, but making someone feel genuinely welcomed and cared for is the part I love most.

A little Halloween magic in the foyer! 🍂🖤

After two months of patiently waiting, my gorgeous black marble lamp finally arrived! This corner desperately needed some light, but I wanted something dark and dramatic to complement my fabulous black-and-white marble obelisk.

And speaking of the obelisk… she’s a one-of-a-kind Maison Joie find that I’m having a very hard time parting with!

The whimsical little Halloween girl and The Book of Witchcraft are from @arch.in.bloom and the beautiful glass pumpkins are from @hoaglands_greenwich. Two wonderful Greenwich shops with the most fabulous finds!

The art of collecting beautiful little things. 🤍

Some objects are as lovely as they are useful.

This vintage magnifying glass, with its warm, timeworn brass and beautifully detailed ivory-toned handle, brings a little old-world charm to the everyday.

Perched atop a stack of favorite books or resting on a writing desk, it’s one of those finishing touches that makes a home feel thoughtfully collected.

A little drama, a little geometry, and just enough old-world polish. 🖤

This vintage banded marble obelisk is one of those pieces that instantly gives a room a more collected feeling — graphic black and white stone, beautifully imperfect veining, and a silhouette that works just as well on a mantel as it does layered into a stack of favorite books.

I especially love it mixed with something completely different, like this sculptural horse head. That tension between classical and unexpected is very Maison Joie.

Some pieces are simply too beautiful to leave behind. 🖤
I spotted this gorgeous pair of vintage Chinese porcelain vases while wandering the fields at Brimfield, and I knew immediately they were coming home with me.

The dramatic black glaze, delicate florals, intricate hand-painted scenes and little wooden stands… every detail is so special.

I can’t help imagining all the beautiful homes they’ve lived in before ours. Perhaps they once sat on a grand mantel, flanking an antique mirror, or among a lifetime of treasures collected from faraway places.

They’re the kind of pieces that make a home feel collected rather than decorated. And as much as I’d love to keep them, I think they deserve another beautiful chapter.

Life is the occasion. Every moment deserves beauty. 🤍

Our girls have finally started laying, and I don't think I'll ever get tired of collecting fresh eggs from the garden. It's the little everyday rituals that make a house feel like home.

Estate sale success in New Canaan. 🤍

I went in hoping for a few pieces I’d spotted in the preview, but by the time I arrived around 2, most of them were already gone.

I did, however, come home with this sculpture: officially The Three Graces, a 2013 Metropolitan Museum of Art reproduction, and unofficially known in our house as Boobs & Butts.

She’s now on the mantel opposite my crystal obelisks and candlesticks, which is exactly where I imagined her.

Next mission: finding the right mirror. Something lacquered or a little more modern to keep the whole thing from feeling too serious.

Late to sharing the Labor Day Weekend pics on my camera roll but let’s just say it was a jampacked weekend, and I wouldn’t trade a single hour of it. 🥂

I get asked a lot what it’s like living in Greenwich — the restaurants, the events, all the little things that make this town feel special. And it really is all of that. But the truth is, none of it means much without the right people in it.

Greenwich gives me the backdrop. The people I love are what turn it into something worth remembering. No regrets, no moments skipped — just a life I feel lucky to be living.

That’s what That Greenwich Life has always really been about. Not the place. The people you share it with. 💛

There’s nothing quite like the hunt. A day at Brimfield, wandering the fields, following whatever catches my eye, and finding pieces with a little history and a lot of personality.

A few treasures came home with me, including this beautiful silver decanter, which has already found its temporary home on our bar… until it finds its next one.
