So excited to see my debut book DOPAMINE DESIGN (published by Ten Speed Press) hit the shelves in two weeks! :)

5 apartments over 6 years taught me one big thing, your home should make you happy the second you walk through the door ✨

Inside, I’m sharing everything from my exact color formulas to renter-friendly ideas and real-life apartment transformations from my own homes + home tours of seven brilliant creatives. taken in New York, New York by @maitrimody

Say hello to Zuri ❤️ Zuri was rescued from Tijuana, Mexico. She is around two and has spent most of her life indoors. I saw a lot of Ari in her, not only in how she looks (like her big floppy ears) but also how she is equal parts graceful & goofy. Zuri means good or beautiful in Swahili.

She has never been on walks before and has some learning to do. But she is a very smart girl, so with some training, she’ll do great! While I know that no one can ever replace Ari, I am really looking forward to adventures with my girl! taken in Brooklyn, New York by @maitrimody

One of the easiest and my fav ways to upgrade a rental, because you can always paint it back to white ;) taken in Brooklyn, New York by @maitrimody

#ValsparPartner Transformed my creative studio with @valsparpaint ! Pink is my ultimate happy color and the shade Cat Nose 8001-9B was just perfect. And it plays so well with the exposed brick. Which shade would you choose for your creative space?

Three months in this apartment, it’s slowly feeling home.

Beautiful portrait of Ari by @carriedraws ❤️ this was one of my fav sweaters, Ari looked so handsome in it.

Six months without Ari, one of the hardest seasons of my life. But I finally feel ready to adopt a fur baby.

Mornings feel peaceful when I am able to get in some journaling, trying to be more regular with it.

I am still trying to decide if I like an open layout more or having different rooms. Do you have a personal preference?

Learning to accept and live with sadness. Realizing that the sadness of losing Ari will never go away.

Thank you to everyone who ordered my book, shared it, messaged me, and supported my work 💛

Cozy season ✨

I love cookware that doubles up as decor! @kitchenaidusa Color-Finished Stainless Steel 3-Ply Base cookware in gorgeous Wildflower finish makes solo dinners feel effortless. This eleven piece set transitions seamlessly from stovetop to oven and is pretty enough to double as dining table centerpiece.

Back from another solo trip. Mexico City surprised me in the best way. Loved staying in La Condesa neighborhood, getting inspired by Luis Barragán architecture, and eating some great food!

My home for the week 💛

Can you believe this was a swimming pool for horses to cool off back in the day? Luis Barragán was commissioned to design this horse stable - La Cuadra is a must see!

Walked into Aizu just wanting some icecream, turned out I had stumbled upon a viral Japanese dessert spot. Matcha vanilla was so good!

Casa Giraldi was designed by Luis Barragán as a private residence, the current owners have tours to show some of the common areas of the house. This property was my favorite!

My fav spot in the Airbnb.

Casa Estudio Luis Barragán - his personal residence now turned into a museum. Fully inspired by all the Barragán pink, new pink additions to my home coming soon ;)

My airbnb hosts left me freshly cut fruit, tortillas, and cojita cheese. Had quesadillas and fresh fruits for breakfast most mornings

Pink kitchen designed by Luis Barragán in Casa Pedregal. This was a fun trip outside the city, combined it with the cute town of San Angel.

Luis Barragán created emotion through architecture with his use of light, color, and scale. This entryway at Casa Giraldi is a great example.

I didn’t realize that my Airbnb had a private rooftop, these tiles are so pretty!

Another one from Casa Estudio Luis Barragán - found it interesting how Barragán worked with both neutrals and colors, instead of picking one team.

Perfectly matched the colors at La Cuadra ❤️

Purple + pink at Casa Giraldi, this house was designed around this tree that was originally on the land. taken in Mexico City by @maitrimody
