Since it was my first time, I decided to be a very ~innocent maiden to avoid attention (and suspicion 👀😂). Next year, I think I’ll hang with the enchanted fairies or dastardly pirates 👌🏾

If you know me you know I welcome any opportunity to wear a costume 🤭…but you also know I think the Renaissance period is overrated and over-idealized 🫣. Sorry, not sorry! However, I can get down with a fun and creative community event where we’re basically all playing make believe in a forest like big kids 💁🏾‍♀️😂.

The fun of Renaissance Festival is that, rather than focusing on historical accuracy, it leans into the imaginative fun and campiness of it all 🥳. I saw fairies, warlocks, princesses, and pirates all eating turkey legs and fried Oreos and playing darts 😂.

So yeah, it’s safe to say this is a place where you can’t take yourself too seriously and that’s half the fun 💁🏾‍♀️🩷🧡

✨The festival runs on weekends until October 25th, but beware: only waitlist tickets are left.

✨ Because this festival is so popular, tickets usually sell out on the day they’re released in July, so definitely plan ahead for next year!

✨Location: 1821 Crownsville Rd, Annapolis

✨ Price: This year was $31 + fees for adults (cheaper for seniors and children)

Hey friends 👋🏾! I’ll make this quick and easy: if you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, modern, AND affordable hotel in Midtown, Manhattan then @lumahoteltimessquare should be on your list‼️

I threw together my New York City trip with only four days notice, and I didn’t even have accommodation until the day before 🤦🏾‍♀️. The last NYC hotel I stayed in was a disappointment, so I was looking with a keener eye 🕵🏾‍♀️. During my search, LUMA had so many positive reviews across multiple websites that I gave it a try 🤞🏾. So glad that I did!

Clean rooms and common areas, modern conveniences, and attentive staff make the stay. Not to mention it has a great location! Oh, and they play old school jams in the common areas so you know I was grooving on the daily 😂

I definitely recommend LUMA for an effortless and enjoyable stay that won’t break the bank!

Time to wrap up these NYC recaps! Hopefully all these mini vlogs have given you more than enough inspiration about things to do and places to eat in New York City! Lawd knows my feet remember how busy we were 😂

Here’s the breakdown:

✨ Bagel Market: There are various locations around the city and tons of customizations 👌🏾

✨Top of the Rock, Rockefeller Center: Three viewing levels and a bar inside! $42 base adult ticket @topoftherocknyc

✨Refinery Rooftop: We were able to walk in but they had very few tables that weren’t reserved, so make a reservation, even on a weekday.

✨Van Leeuwen: There are multiple locations in the city. We went to the one inside Grand Central Terminal. Really good ice cream! @vanleeuwenicecream

✨Baked by Melissa: Really tiny cupcakes but big flavor! @bakedbymelissa

✨Maybe Happy Ending on Broadway: Go see it! It’s a very unique love story about two humanoid robots falling in love. The staging is very modern and creative. A funny, (bitter)sweet, and thoughtful show. @maybehappyending

✨Amor Loco: Order the chimichanga and that’s all I got 😅😂

✨Sunday Morning: Considered some of the best cinnamon rolls in the city @sundaymorningcinnamonrolls

✨The Grey Dog: Good food, friendly staff, and cute inside. Would’ve sat in if we had time! @thegreydognyc

Hey friends heyyy 👋🏾! Let’s get into Day 3 of my NYC trip! I fear 80% of the day was spent eating 🫣😂. But New York is for foodies, so can you really blame us 😌🤷🏾‍♀️

Here’s the breakdown:

✨ Clinton St. Baking Company: A very popular place for breakfast. The pancakes are always ranked as some of the best in the city…but I suspect the maple butter is doing the heavy lifting 😅. But see for yourself! You’ll want to make reservations!

✨Tenement Museum: We did the “Moores in 4A” tour. For every other tour, you visit a preserved apartment for a family who actually lived in the building you’re touring. However, the Moores would not have been rented to in that particular building. Instead, the Moores rented an apartment in a nearby “colored” neighborhood. Still, the museum decided to recreate the Moores’ apartment anyway. How the Moore family got on the museum’s radar makes for an interesting story too long to share here, but you can book the tour when you’re in NYC or ask me in the comments lol.
-Tickets were $30+ fees. You can only tour one apartment per booking. @thetenementmuseum

✨Bear Donut: The strawberry milk donut is literally one of the best donuts I’ve ever eaten! So soft and not overly sweet 😋 @beardonutinc

✨Bryant Park: A much-needed green space in the city. Lots of activities are held here but you can also go just to sit and chill. @bryantparknyc

✨Mama’s Too! (West Village location): Sooo good! We ordered the Angry Nonna, Poached Pear, Upside Down, and the Pepperoni Square 👌🏾

Hey friends, I’m back with the recap of Day 2 in New York City ☺️

We started with a spa day 🧖🏾‍♀️! I’d been hearing good things about @sojospaclub for years and it didn’t disappoint! Babyyyy, the way those hydrotherapy jets worked out the kinks in my back and that silk bath soothed my skin, I was in heaven 🥹 lol. We only stayed for about 4.5 hours, but I could’ve stayed the entire day 🧘🏾‍♀️.

✨If you plan on visiting, definitely reserve your time slot in advance. We went on a Monday morning and it was still a lot of people.

✨ If you’re staying in Manhattan, you can take an Uber, but NYC traffic is so bad that a short ride can quickly turn into a long one. NJ Transit bus 158 will drop you directly across the street from SoJo, and it’s only about a 30 minute ride from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown.

Now, onto the Broadway show 🎭! @sixbroadway was such a great musical! Basically, Henry VIII’s six wives form a pop band and put their stories into song 😆. You get fun performances with empowering messages. My sister Lauren is a huge European history girlie, so she’s been wanting to see it for a while, but you can go in without knowing a thing and still enjoy it 👌🏾.

✨ Note: Always buy Broadway tickets DIRECTLY from the show’s official website. Don’t play yourself by going to Broadway.com 👎🏾

Heyyy friends ☺️👋🏾! I finally escaped my desk for a quick trip, but don’t tell anybody 👀😂

A visit to America’s cultural capital is never a bad idea. This was my fourth time in NYC, and I still feel like I haven’t scratched the surface (but my calf muscles would disagree 🫠 lol)

Here’s what we got into on Day 1:

✨Smorgasburg Food Festival: Runs seasonally, usually weekends in April through October. There are different locations for each day of the weekend. We went to the Sunday event in Prospect Park which is open from 11-6pm. @smorgasburg

✨ Nintendo Flagship Store in Midtown at Rockefeller Plaza

✨Kinokuniya Books in Midtown @kinokuniyausa

✨Anita Gelato: Soooooo dang GOOD 😭. And they let you sample their many flavors before you choose 👌🏾 @anitagelatousa

✨ Yard House: Not unique to NYC, but always reliably good, especially for drinks and appetizers.

✨Hotel: LUMA Hotel Times Square right in the heart of Midtown, but on a quiet(er) street. I loved this place! I’ll probably make a separate reel about the experience. @lumahoteltimessquare

Hey friends! I’ve missed you 🤗! To be honest, life has been lifing in ways both beautiful and grievous (perhaps I’ll share more on that in another post), but I’m still trying to make time for even the smallest adventures ☺️

A day @crimsonlanevineyards offers the perfect opportunity to de-stress. The fresh air and rich greenery of the vineyards, the mouthwatering appetizers, and of course the glasses of buttery Chardonnay 🥂. What’s not to love 🥰?

Virginia Wine Country boasts over 200 wineries and vineyards, but it’s still a highly underrated wine region. I admit I was sleeping on it too despite it being in my own backyard 😆, but I think it may be time to take a weekend trip and explore the area 🤔

Thank you Crimson Lane for a lovely introduction to the region! I’ll be back ☺️🩷🧡

There’s a reason Puerto Rico is called the Island of Enchantment! As Bad Bunny proved on Sunday, the rich history, vibrant culture, lively people, and beautiful landscape will dazzle you 🥹🤩

If you’ve never been to Puerto Rico, then I highly recommend a visit 💁🏾‍♀️! Immerse yourself in the food, music, and culture, and make sure you show respect and appreciation to the people and the land that is hosting you ☺️🙏🏾
