In 2007/2008 I wanted to make myself up as Voldemort for Halloween and had this idea to rubber band my nose as flat as possible so a foam latex appliance could be sculpted as thin as possible over it to achieve that affect in real life. Here’s my life cast … the pain from the 20 or so minutes made me scrap that costume idea. I still have the plaster casting though. What a fun shelf find.
Yikes.

When I was 19 I got into mask making. I scaled down and started making toys I wanted. Behold, Godzilla and Destroyah. I made these as not only primitive stop motion puppets but also toys for my amazing and wonderful late nephew.
They were sculpted in oil clay, separated into pieces and then molded in plaster and cast in latex, stuffed with cotton and clothes hanger wire because that’s what I had.

Godzilla minus one, a true masterpiece full of incredible moments. So why not have a wooden moment of attack in your collection? It was one of my favorite details in the movie. So cool I decided to make them. Give me a follow for more awesome Kaiju content weekly! My shop:

I’m not great at recording the process of sculpting on video because I constantly start over and am never quite sure where the clay will take me, even though I have an idea of where I want to end up. I’ll try to do better for the new year. Here are some shots of the process of sculpting the Godzilla foot for mold and cast.
What should I make next?
