Leaflets about police violence in Germany. The “civicus monitor”, a research platform tracking civic freedoms, has downgraded Germany again due to repressions and police brutality at protests. Germany is now ranked “obstructed”. Police brutality is rooted in the control and punishment of people of color and comes from a place of deep racist, homophobic and transphobic structures. Queerness is essentially about reimagining the here and now and the insistence that there are better ways of being in the world, and ultimately new worlds, as the queer-theorist José Esteban Muñoz stated. New worlds, that go beyond main-stream, capitalist and heteronormative ideals. Creating Utopias is a way to make the impossible visible and to give us room to dream. “Queertopia” is an illustrated virtual world that serves as a space to escape the reality of homophobia and transphobia, offering a dreamy, almost magical world where you can feel safe. It inspires us to always reach for more and to continue reimagining the here and now. Semesterproject made during my guest semester at @kunsthochschuleberlin in the class of Prof.in Barbara Junge and Julian Netzer Big Thanks to Robin Rutenberg for the technical support Created with Pano Painter, Procreate and Unity #abkstuttgart #illustration #vrworld #queerillustration #queersafespace #queertopia #grafikdesign #graphicindex #collectgraphics #designeverywhere #thedesignblacklist #thebrandingcollective #eyeondesign #itsnicethat by @majkind
