I am so so so excited to announce that I will be furthering my athletic and academic career at the University of Tampa!!!

First and foremost I want to give all glory to God.

Thank you to my parents who have always pushed, supported, and had my back through every up and down in my journey. And obviously Tanner who has sat through every game and tournament.

Lastly I want to thank all my coaches who have guided me to this point especially @centralfloridaelite__ and coach Otis, coach Mayer and the bk staff. Along with Blue Heat and coach Jason.

Go spartans!!! @utampawbb by @makala_desj

LEGACY ON LOCK 🔒 ///

Makala DesJarlais
Class of 2027 | 6’1 F

Battled back from injury and returned with impact, Makala controls the glass, plays through contact, and delivers in big moments. A physical presence inside with a motor that doesn’t stop and leadership that shows every possession.

On 3.16.26, Prep Girls hoops @pghflorida noted, “Makala Desjarlais made her presence felt on the inside for Bishop Kenny, finishing with 13 points and 7 rebounds while shooting 4-7 from the field. There was a stretch in the first half of the championship where DesJarlais set the tone with consecutive buckets in the paint. She provided a dose of finishing around the rim - showcasing good footwork and physicality. Her work on the glass helped Bishop Kenny control possessions, and her physical play in the paint created second-chance opportunities throughout the contest. DesJarlais also ran in transition, and that is what separates her from a lot of power forwards. She can fill the lane on the fast break or lead the break herself. DesJarlais was a “beast” in the state tournament, and her resiliency and ability to perform down the stretch are what separated her from other power forwards, and what helped earn her team the 4A State championship.”
