The Little Giant Fire is a major, active wildfire currently burning in Chelan County, Washington. Sparked by lightning on July 15, 2026, in the Chiwawa River Valley, the blaze quickly expanded across the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest due to critically dry, below-average snowpack conditions. Over the weekend of August 1–2, extreme weather conditions—including wind gusts exceeding 40 mph—pushed the fire across the Entiat River and blew embers across Lake Chelan, creating a remote spot fire on the north shore near Safety Harbor Campground. As of August 3, 2026, the fire has consumed 51,298 acres and remains at 0% containment. The incident is being managed by California Interagency Incident Management Team 2, with unified support from over 1,300 personnel, including the Washington National Guard. The wildfire actively threatens 1,824 structures, prompting Chelan County Emergency Management to issue Level 3 "Go Now" evacuation orders for parts of the Entiat Valley. Massive pyrocumulus clouds generated by the fire have been visible as far away as Seattle, triggering regional air quality alerts as heavy smoke impacts North Central Washington communities like Leavenworth, Entiat, and Wenatchee. by @make.like.a.tree.and.leaf

The first 48-team FIFA World Cup™ was a joyous celebration of football’s unique ability to unite, excite and captivate people from all corners of the globe.   On the ground in Canada, Mexico and the United States, a record total of 6,810,966 fans packed into stadiums to watch the greatest show on earth. The atmosphere was vibrant and colourful across the 16 host cities, with supporters mixing freely and creating memories to last a lifetime.   Thirty-nine days of thrilling action concluded on 19 July with a blockbuster final between Spain and Argentina. La Roja emerged triumphant, with Ferran Torres scoring an extra-time winner to deliver the nation’s second world title.   Fitting champions for the biggest World Cup ever, Spain blended exceptional skill, poise and control with an unbreakable competitive spirit. They conceded just one goal throughout the tournament, while their slick attacking interchanges carved open opponents with surgical precision. Inspirational captain Rodri was the beating heart of their success, and the midfield colossus was recognised with the adidas Golden Ball Award. by @make.like.a.tree.and.leaf

Look at that cool guy.

Just casually floating across the sky like he doesn’t have a single responsibility in the world, lighting up every cloud he passes, turning the entire horizon orange, pink, red, and gold, and somehow making everybody stop whatever they’re doing just to watch him leave. He never says anything, never explains himself, never asks for attention, and still manages to become the main character every single evening. Then, after spending all day keeping the entire planet warm and making life possible, he slowly drops behind the mountains like he has somewhere better to be. No goodbye, no announcement, no appreciation speech. He just disappears, leaves the sky glowing for a few more minutes, and lets the moon take over the night shift. Then tomorrow morning, he’ll come right back, act like nothing happened, and do the whole thing again. by @make.like.a.tree.and.leaf

Imagine standing outside, watching the clouds move across the sky, while the sun slowly disappears behind the horizon and everything turns gold for no particular reason. You take a deep breath, think about life, time, purpose, and all the choices that brought you to this exact moment, only to realize you came outside because you forgot where you left your phone. by @make.like.a.tree.and.leaf

To Kill a Mockingbird is a 1960 Southern Gothic novel by American author Harper Lee. It became instantly successful after its release; in the United States, it is widely read in high schools and middle schools.

To Kill a Mockingbird won the Pulitzer Prize a year after its release, and it has become a classic of modern American literature.

The plot and characters are loosely based on Lee's observations of her family, her neighbors and an event that occurred near her hometown of Monroeville, Alabama, in 1936, when she was ten. taken in City of Quincy, Washington by @make.like.a.tree.and.leaf
