And considering she already had a little Sabrina energy… we knew exactly what to do.

Soft pink + vanilla eyes, winged liner, rosy cheeks and lips, paired with soft, polished waves.

The goal was never to copy the inspiration, it was to take what she loved about it and make it feel like her.

For a hair trial, I tell my brides to:

✨Come with clean, completely dry hair. Modern styling products can create the grip we need. Excess oil and product buildup can actually make styling more difficult. Dirty hair doesn’t hold hair better and let’s be honest, event hairstylists do not want to touch dirty hair.

✨ Bring the veil and any hair accessories that you have. That includes combs, pins, headbands, bows, or anything you’re considering wearing so you can determine placement and see how everything works with the hairstyle.

✨ Bring realistic inspiration photos. Not 25 completely different hairstyles. A few images that clearly communicate what you like: placement, texture, volume, face-framing pieces, etc

✨Wear a top with a similar neckline if possible. It makes it much easier to visualize the overall balance of the finished bridal look.

✨Come with an open mind. The photo is just for inspiration, the goal isn’t to copy another woman’s hair exactly. The goal is to take what you love about that style and adapt it to your hair, face, dress, and overall bridal aesthetic.

The trial is where you determine whether your expectations match what your actual hair can do. If you shows us a full chignon but has very fine, shoulder-length hair, that doesn’t automatically mean “no.” It means, Okay, what do we need to create this? Extensions? Padding? A slightly different shape?
That’s the value of having such appointment before the wedding day.

Come prepared, but don’t feel like you have to figure everything out yourself. That’s what us professional are here for.

If you know Winter Park, you probably know the Alfond Inn’s iconic glass dome rising above the courtyard. What many people don’t realize is that you can get married inside it. ⁠

The Conservatory is the light-filled heart of the hotel — a soaring glass-domed room wrapped in floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking the garden courtyard. It comfortably hosts intimate weddings and receptions, which makes it a dream for couples planning something small but elevated.⁠

Suspended beneath the dome is a cluster of dichroic-glass sculptures — faceted, iridescent forms that are part of the Alfond’s art collection. As the noon sun poured straight down through the glass, those sculptures scattered rainbows across the entire room: on the floor, across the walls, over the guests, even catching on Nancy’s dress. The geometry of the windows added its own drama, throwing long rays and crisp shadows that shifted as we moved through the day.⁠

Most couples worry about harsh midday sun, and outdoors, that instinct is right. But this room turns that same overhead light into an advantage. It’s a rare space where a noon ceremony is genuinely the best-case scenario, not a compromise — something worth knowing if you’re planning your timeline around this venue.⁠

How do I explain the bridal look I want without asking for something that won’t work for my features?

Start with inspiration photos but choose them intentionally.

Whenever possible, look for women with similar hair color, texture, skin tone, and facial features to yours.

A hairstyle on blonde hair can look completely different on brunette hair. The same applies to makeup, eye shape, skin texture, and facial features all affect how a look translates.

And remember: inspiration is not a blueprint.

Your photos help us understand what you’re drawn to:

✨ Soft or defined glam
✨ Matte or shimmer
✨ Light or fuller coverage
✨ Soft liner or a more defined eye
✨ Romantic waves or a polished updo

And please tell us what you don’t like too! Sometimes your dislikes tell us even more than your Pinterest board.

You might be surprised by my answer… Your hairstyle should first be based on YOU Before we talk about necklines or accessories, ask yourself one question:

If you’ve always loved wearing your hair down, don’t choose an updo simply because it’s your wedding day. Your bridal look should feel like the most elevated version of you and make you feel comfortable.

Next, we consider your hair’s natural characteristics, its texture, density, and whether extensions or additional prep will help achieve your vision.

Only then do we let your dress, veil, jewelry, and overall wedding aesthetic refine the final look.
One last piece of advice: don’t buy your hair accessory before choosing your hairstyle. Your accessories should complement your hair not dictate it.

One of the biggest misconceptions brides have is thinking the earlier the start time, the more stressful the morning will be. In reality, it’s the opposite.

A well-planned timeline creates a calm, enjoyable morning with plenty of time to relax, laugh with your bridal party, take getting-ready photos, and enjoy every moment without feeling rushed.

At Makeover Station, we schedule 120 minutes for the bride’s hair and makeup and 80 minutes for each bridal party member’s hair and makeup. Those times have been carefully refined over more than 20 years of wedding mornings to ensure every service is completed beautifully without anyone feeling hurried.

For example, if you’re a bride plus 6 people receiving both hair and makeup, that’s 14 total services. If everyone needs to be photo-ready by 1:00 PM, your beauty timeline would begin around 7:00 AM.

That schedule gives us enough time to complete every service, make final touch-ups, and have everyone ready on time without the stress of running behind.

A relaxed wedding morning isn’t an accident, it’s the result of thoughtful planning, an experienced beauty team, and a timeline that allows room to breathe.

In fact, before we begin your hair and makeup on your wedding day, we always ask if you’d like to recreate your trial look exactly as it was or make any adjustments.

By the wedding day, we’ve already spent time together at your trial, so you’ve had the chance to get to know us, see how we work, and build trust. Because of that, most brides feel completely comfortable asking for small tweaks.

The most common request? A little more definition around the eyes. Whether it’s a slightly darker eyeshadow, a softer liner, or a fuller lash, we’re always happy to make those final adjustments.

Your bridal trial is meant to be a starting point, not a contract.

Want to achieve soft glam makeup that doesn’t look cakey? Here’s what to do 👇

1- Skin prep: exfoliate regularly and hydrate like your life depends on it as makeup will only look good if your skin is in good shape

2- Apply foundation and concealer in thin layers to even out your skin - you don’t need pounds of coverage

3- Apply powder strategically to set your foundation and diminish shine. Ladies over 30… be careful with that triangle powder puff unless your goal is to look dusty by dinner.

4- Choose lip and cheek colors on the same color family for a balanced makeup look

5 - Line your eyes with eyeshadow instead of a harsh liquid liner

And voila … soft glam without the cake
