We're on the streets today to tell the Government #MakePollutersPay!

Oil and gas giants have made billions for the super-rich - driving up our bills and wrecking our climate. It’s time they paid to fix it! 🌍🔥💰

Our movement is growing fast and we're not going away! by @makepolluterspay

🔥Today, we brought the fight to Make Polluters Pay to the doorstep of the U.K. Parliament!

📨 U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak (or actually, someone dressed just like him) delivered our message for us, while standing on a giant oil barrel outside of the Houses of Parliament!

❗Our demands have never been clearer - polluters must pay up for the damage they have caused.

@rishisunakmp, are you listening?

📢Join the fight and stand with us on #MakePollutersPay Action Day this Saturday, the 23rd September - find out how using the link in our bio! by @makepolluterspay

COP 28 has ended but the fight to #MakePollutersPay continues 💰💰💰

Polluters must #PayUp for the loss and damage they’ve caused communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis.

Here’s some highlights from our action at COP28 🛢️💸 by @makepolluterspay

Today's budget delivered breathing space for.... big oil bosses.

A one-off £100 cut to energy bills for struggling households is not nothing, but Shell alone has made over £5 billion in windfall profits in the last 3 months: does that seem fair to you?

Demand the Chancellor makes polluters pay their fair share.

🚨Make polluters pay!🚨

From extreme weather to energy and food prices, the climate emergency’s impact is global. And worldwide, the people least responsible are hit hardest.

The fossil fuel giants and their wealthy backers who are responsible for the climate crisis must pay up for the damage they have contributed to.

Head to the link in our bio to demand those fuelling the climate emergency pay for climate action. ✊

🇧🇷 Congratulations to President Lula and the people of Brazil!

The world needs brave leaders prepared to stand up to vested interests and put people and planet first.

At last year’s UN climate negotiations in Brazil, Lula said:

“Oil companies must pay part of this. Mining companies must pay part of this. Those who earn large fortunes must pay part of this. Because otherwise the poorest people on Earth will suffer most.”

He’s right. And people around the world agree: polluters must pay.

Make Polluters Pay. For climate justice. For the communities on the frontlines. For our shared future.

Cynically cloaking the #Jackdaw decision in a climate transition fund doesn’t justify giving Shell the green light for this disastrous project.

It's like letting a wealthy arsonist set more fires simply because they’ve agreed to chip in a few quid for the fire brigade.

It lets an industry that has made vast profits driving us to the brink of climate breakdown off the hook, while families and businesses pay the real price.

We still have time to #StopRosebank. Contact your MP today. by @makepolluterspay

Insurance insiders have sounded the alarm: as climate impacts escalate, their industry is preparing to hike prices or withdraw from large parts of the UK.

Households, businesses and farmers across the country have just endured a summer of fires and extreme heat. Others face severe flood risks. And instead of being there to support ordinary people, the insurance industry is throwing in the towel.

So who should pay? The oil and gas industry.

They have pushed us towards climate collapse, driving the impacts we’ve seen in the UK and across the world — impacts that will only get worse.

**They caused it. They profited. They should pay.**

Join us to hold these polluters accountable. #MakePollutersPay by @makepolluterspay

Climate change is a workers' issue. Oil and gas companies must pay.

👏👏👏 Fantastic words by @andreaegangs from @unisontheunion speaking about our Pre-Budget Rally last week.

Our coalition is building. More movements, communities, campaigners, and everyday people are coming together under a banner to #MakePollutersPay. by @makepolluterspay

Responding to the climate crisis is not only an environmental challenge but it's also one of justice. Climate impacts are falling disproportionately on people and communities with fewer resources.

Quakers joined trade unionists, health workers, faith leaders and campaigners in Parliament Square as part of the Make Polluters Pay coalition, calling on the government to keep the windfall tax on oil and gas giants. by @makepolluterspay

Yesterday, in advance of the Chancellor’s budget, we brought together politicians, and members of our coalition outside Parliament to put a spotlight on a simple demand: Make Polluters Pay.

After a summer of fires and extreme weather, oil and gas companies are expected to announce bumper un-earned war-driven Q3 profits, whilst lobbying to weaken the tax regime.

This won’t be popular. 8 in 10 people support making oil and gas companies pay their fair share.

Momentum is building, in the UK and across the globe. It’s time to hold these companies to account and make them pay.

Yesterday Friends of the Earth, alongside the Make Polluters Pay coalition, frontline workers, trade unions and those most impacted by the climate crisis, took part in a demo outside Parliament calling for polluters to pay. ✊

Big oil and gas companies are making billions while communities and households pay the price. These fossil fuel giants and their wealthy backers responsible for the climate crisis must pay up for the damage they have contributed to.
