A look at the inside. The light has a tick mask that acts both as internal structure to hold the lights and acrylic panel in place as well as a spacer to give the light room to diffuse evenly before hitting the acrylic, eliminating the led hot spots. The cool part about this one that's different from previous lights I've made is angling the "sky" strip to fill the sky space and also create a natural gradient towards the edge bc the light hits it more directly near the sun than it does at the upper edges. by @maker_schmitz
Not a lot of project time lately, but I was able to finish a new light for my office :) by @maker_schmitz
Open field Madison. Nothing makes me want to improve my endurance more than the Madison race format. This year was the first time I really got how it worked and I love it! I'm always shattered towards the end, but it's a really fun team event. Gotta build up my base for next year @penroseparkvelo :) by @maker_schmitz
Becker State Memorial Scratch Race, cat B. I finished fourth (which was not my plan 🤪), but I loved how strategic I was able to be over the course of thr race. I conserved energy well, I was mindful about my position (except for the end 🤦🏾‍♂️), I did some light pulling early on to keep people from thinking that I was going to avoid the front later. It was a lot of fun even if I didn't make the podium this time :) by @maker_schmitz
Printing out the last couple of batches of 2026 race medals to finish out the season @penroseparkvelo. It's been fun designing and printing these the last couple of years and nice to have a little collection of my own wins ;) #stlouis #velodrome #trackcycling #penroseparkvelodrome #cycling by @maker_schmitz
Cat A Keirin. I was suuuuper bonked at this point and pulled position 1. I knew I was going to get swarmed so I just spiked as soon as the moped pulled off. I didn't think I'd be able to win, but I figured I could surprise everyone and make them hurt a bit 🤪 by @maker_schmitz
@penroseparkvelo Cat B Keirin race with a 🥇 finish :) by @maker_schmitz
@penroseparkvelo Cat B scratch race with a 🥇 finish :) in retrospect my gear was a bit too heavy for this race, but I wanted the bigger gear for the Keirin races after this one. Can't complain with the finish though :) by @maker_schmitz
Madison racing @penroseparkvelo! This was the last race of the night so I was COOKED at this point. Still fun to get out there and get some throws and launches in with Jeremy! #stlouis #velodrome #trackcycling #penroseparkvelodrome by @maker_schmitz
Match sprint with @jonathanorf. I couldn't get the meters to line up with the actual video playback :/ this was match one of three. I thought my camera ran out of space before I got to these sprints but I was able to get this one in! @penroseparkvelo #trackcycling #velodrome #stlouis by @maker_schmitz
Match sprint with @shawnbmaher from last week @penroseparkvelo #stlouis #velodrome #bikeracing by @maker_schmitz
Keirin night @penroseparkvelo! This was race one for my group (my camera died before race two 😮‍💨). I placed third on this one which I consider pretty good considering I drew the last position and was boxed in towards the end. I placed second on the second race and got a 🥈 overall. A good night of racing:) by @maker_schmitz
