I genuinely thought I was alone in this…

But after chatting to a fair few friends and clients my age (our peak years, obviously 😂), turns out I am absolutely not flying solo.

Can we just take a minute to talk about the pressure — mainly from ourselves — to constantly be ticking boxes?

If we’re not downing a gallon of electrolyte water, we’re booking Botox.

If it’s not filler, it’s Korean skincare (since wheeeennn?!).

We’re basically adding stress… to anxiety… on top of a quiet little hum of “not enough.” And honestly? I don’t think women over 40 have ever felt it more.

Just a few of the daily “must-dos” apparently:

• Supplements — the confusion (and cost) is thrilling.

• Oil for hair loss — super cute.

• Infrared masks — false economy much??

• Gut health — I’ll just leave that there.

• Hydration — Stanley at the ready… what happened to a glass of water??

• Collagen dropping — face heading south.

• Exercise — get jacked, but not too jacked.

• Reformer Pilates — actual devil’s work.

• Wellness & being present — eh?

• Journaling & manifesting — still unclear what we’re manifesting exactly.

• Keep in touch — but stay off your phone and mind your screen time.

• New makeup trends — but makeup that doesn’t look like makeup. Don’t try too hard darling. But make an effort ffs 😂🤦‍♀️

• Diet. Protein. Blah blah.

• Family communication….easy peasy.

• Socialise — but don’t drink too much. God forbid.

• Manage anxiety. - cool .. like saying calm down 😂

• Take magnesium. - does it do anything really?? Take a Xanax

• Drink the teas. For why moira? For why?????

I’m pretty sure our mums downed a black coffee, sparked a Marlboro Red, slapped on some Oil of Olay and just hoped for the best.

And don’t even get me started on my friends and family that have kids now — juggling all of that, plus jobs, judgement, expectations, and everything in between.

Oh — and remember to check in with your friends.
But don’t always be available.
Schedule time to see them.
But also take time for yourself

I’m skint. I’m tired. Pass the wine.
