Sat 4th of July. La Cuisine at LaFabrik w/ TRANSITION resident DJ Thorsten Hoffmann. by @makeyourtransition_

Have you ever had this feeling? You can’t quite put your finger on it, but you just know the DJ you’re listening to has been behind the decks for a long time.
We had that sensation threefold at the beginning of the month, when @makeyourtransition_ residents @dexdexter_sd, Thorsten Hoffmann & Turtur joined us for a 4 hour edition of Under Construction.

You can expect a bit of everything, from their trademark Detroit and Dub Techno Sound to more Minimal tracks, all connected through a raw and inexplicably beautifully gloomy atmosphere.
All three also played in a loose, improvised manner rather than following a fixed running order: whoever had the next fitting track would be up, giving the Set an engaging and sort of interwoven feel. 🧶🪡

If you also want to hear how they’ve honed their craft in the last 15+ years, be sure to check out the full Set, which is up now on SoundCloud! ☁️☄️

A reminder to tune in tonight at 20:00 CET to catch the TRANSITION Crew, here’s some more infos about them to get you warmed up:

Dex Dexter:
When Dex plays, it gets physical, groovy, sweaty, raw – with a touch of underground glitter. Meandering between techno, house music and beyond, his sound doesn’t fit into any genre box. It’s more of an aesthetic identity: Basement Disco Body Music.

With this approach, Transition became his musical home and remains so to this day. But even beyond DJing, Dex was an active part of the Aachen scene in the 2010s, for example as one of the driving forces behind the first Niemandsland Festival, organising his own parties and collaborating with other event organisers and those shaping (sub)culture.

Thorsten Hoffmann:
Thorsten Hoffmann has been on the local local scene for quite a while. As a DJ with more than 20years experience under his belt, and as promoter who founded the long running underground operation TRANSITION in 2010.

Inspired by Robert Hood, Jeff Mills, Armando and Basic Channel, to name a few, he draws more subliminal inspiration from his vast collection of all sounds trippy like 60s und 70s Psychedelia and Space Rock.
He is one half of the mysterious Dub Techno project @schweres_wasser where it is all about oscillations in Dub. And beyond.

Turtur:
Turturs relationship to Music could be described as an eternal search for Tracks that capture “The Magic of the Moment”, for those special occasions when Sounds begin to transcend, where the individual parts become the whole, and the borders between the Beginning and the End begin to fade.

He’s been part of the TRANSITION Family since 2010 and active as a DJ in the local scene. Among his Influences one can find everything from Jazz and Frank Zappa to Psychedelic Rock over Amon Tobin.

If you also can’t wait to hear what they’ve got in store for us be sure to join over our Webstream or catch us on the Aachen Airwaves under 99,1MHz 📡🌊

We’re excited to be back after a short hiatus with a very special show this friday, @makeyourtransition_ ‘s very own residents @dexdexter_sd, Thorsten Hoffmann & Turtur.

Founded in 2010 and ranging from contemporary Techno and Dub to oldschool-rooted Detroit Sounds, TRANSITION has established itself in Aachen as the go-to event for for futuristic and raw sounds.
In its 15+ years of operation they have amassed a loyal fanbase and invited internationally renowned acts such as Ben Klock, DVS1, Surgeon, Oscar Mulero, DAX J, DJ Deep and most recently .VRIL, highlighting our local scene and putting Aachen on the map.

We’re starting a little earlier tonight for this absolutely packed edition, so be sure to tune in at 20:00 CET over our Webstream or if you’re in Aachen over the 99,1Mhz frequency. 🌐📡
