Being a first-generation college graduate means I walked into rooms my family had never stepped into before—no blueprint, no shortcuts, no handouts. Just faith, resilience, and a vision bigger than every obstacle placed in my way.

So much was sent to break me, to distract me, to tear me down. But every time life tried to knock me down, I got back up. I refused to let struggle define me. I refused to give up on myself and the dreams God placed in my heart.

I’m not just doing this for me—I’m setting the bar high. I’m becoming what God called me to be, showing others that no matter what you go through it does not limit to where you’re going. That you can face setbacks, delays, doubt, and still rise. That quitting is never the option.

I kept pushing. I kept believing. I kept praying. And now I’m standing in a place that once felt impossible.

Nursing school was filled with long nights of studying, early mornings, endless tests, quizzes, clinicals, preceptorship, labs, and check-offs that pushed me in every way possible. Every sleepless night and every sacrifice was worth it, because it all led me to this moment. 👩🏽‍⚕️✨

Delayed, but not denied. ✨

Nursing school was one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to go through. It challenged me mentally, emotionally, and physically, and there were so many moments I questioned myself and wondered if I was truly strong enough for this journey.

Having to retake a class and sit out for an entire year was one of the hardest parts. I felt behind and discouraged. It felt like life was standing still for me while everyone else was moving forward. There were even times people told me maybe I should change my major or choose a different path, but deep down I knew this was what God called me to do.

There were nights I cried, prayed, and asked God for strength because I felt like I had none left. I battled self-doubt and disappointment, but even in that season, God never left me. He reminded me that delay does not mean denial. What felt like rejection was really redirection.

I’m also beyond grateful for my amazing support system—my family, friends, and the people who never let me give up on myself. Their encouragement, prayers, and constant reminders to keep going meant more than they know. On the days I wanted to quit, they helped push me forward.

This degree means more than just graduation—it represents resilience, faith, growth, and choosing not to quit. Every tear, every setback, and every prayer led me here.

I couldn’t have done this without God and the people He placed around me.
