this is a great girls night craft idea because it is super beginner friendly and there are so many different ways to customize it! plus you will need two separate nights to complete it (one to sculpt, one to paint) which just gives you an extra excuse to get together 🫶🏻

as many of you know (because I won’t freaking shut up about it) I recently started my quilting journey, and have been forcing myself to take it slow and learn the craft correctly rather than letting my adhd take the reins (which usually means winging it, getting frustrated when it doesn’t turn out the way I want, and then giving up on the craft entirely.) and honestly, it’s been really therapeutic — chipping away at a project a little bit at a time and embracing the slowness of it. so before jumping into a full size quilt, I’ve been practicing with smaller projects that consist of individual quilt blocks or that feature one quilting skill at a time. and these patchwork baby crinkle toys are one of them!

this was heavily inspired by @sairasteelman so head to her video if you want to make these because she does a way better job of explaining it than I do in this video 🧵🪡 the only things I changed were using a quilt block as my front piece, doubling the batting, quilting both front and back pieces, and using the bag from a box of cereal instead of crinkle paper from the craft store.

these little crinkle toys are a relatively quick project and make the perfect gift for new moms! my 3-month-old actually plays with his all the time and loves munching on it during floor time. perfect if you have a single quilt block laying around that you don’t know what to do with. in my case, these were practice blocks and some of the first ones I’d sewn, so they’re definitely not perfect, but luckily babies are a pretty forgiving audience 🤍

some of you might recall that I bought this pressed flower set to make bookmarks for my dorian gray birthday last year, but I had so many left over and no plans for what to do with them. then I started seeing a ton of lamp upcycling on my feed and knew right away that the flowers would be perfect! I love the way the light looks shining through them. it’s whimsical and definitely a bit kitchsy, but I think it’s perfect for my craft room 🌸🌼🪻

kinda chic to not add a 3 paragraph disclaimer to each of these slides (even though I desperately want to)

this trend is probably dead by now but I do love the idea of re-examining what it means to be “chic” so I had to add my take 🤍 and I love that overconsumption seems to be becoming less and less chic every day! give me a slow hobby, a thrifted trinket and a 90s kitchen over a shein haul any day 🐌

also I resisted to urge to overshare this time but there’s a bittttt of a sneaky lore drop in there for those with a keen eye 👁️

so fun that I get to share in this hobby with her now 🧵🪡

my mom started quilting when she was around my age with little kids at home, so it feels really special to be starting my own quilting journey while in the same season of life! I used these quilts constantly growing up, but I’m seeing them through new eyes now that I know just how much work went into making each one of them.

the second installment of my series that doesn’t have a name but is all about small, single block quilting projects. the idea was born after I made a bunch of practice blocks as a beginner quilter and decided they weren’t quite good enough to go in a full quilt, but I spent far too much time on them to simply discard them! if you missed it, my first single block project was a patchwork baby crinkle toy, and I have loads more single block ideas up my sleeve! perfect if you’re a beginner like me and want to dip your toes into quilting without spending a ton of time and money.

listen, I’ve never been one to let gender dictate my son’s toys, but even I wasn’t prepared for how much he would love this little doll house. this is one of the few toys he will play with for an extended period of time and I just love what it brings out in him. he loves setting it up just so and he will really take his time to get it right, even though the tiny pieces can be tricky to work with and he often has to start over. and I don’t know for sure if this is correlated, but I’ve also noticed that he has started paying more attention to our own home and noticing what it feels like when it is/isn’t clean and being more willing to help.

and I know it’s 2026 and most of us have moved past the idea of gendered toys, but I still see comments all the time on dollhouse videos like “I wish I could make a dollhouse but I’m a boy mom!” as if boys don’t also live in houses? anyway…dollhouses for boys 👌🏼 I’m a big fan. by @makingofmeg

from egg carton to heirloom 🐣

revisiting this project from last year because I pulled it out of storage the other day and got so excited to use it again in elliot’s easter basket this year! its lumpy and messy and perfectly imperfect in the way only handmade items are 🤍 no custom egg for otis this year because he literally never lets me put him down, but hopefully next year! 🧺
