🇨🇵 Let's talk in DM ! Obsessive dude making a silly blinking and beeping replica from one obscure prop from a very famous movie and game.

POSTS STORIES REELS

Welcome to all the newcomers ! I wish you a great journey in the mine making world ! Feel free to ask questions !

Tonight was a tough one as I had to finish one remote mine, one proximity, and one timed mine ! The two last will be given hand to hand probably next week, and the first will go to USA very soon ! The only thing missing for now are the boxes and the booklet ! But it's coming.

Today for #minemonday and with the kind permission of @klaffen_from_finland_with_love, here is the great review he did about the remote mine I made for him !

He is a huge bond collector and you should go and see his YouTube Channel.

Thank you again for your trust and your kind words ! 🙏

I work in video industry yet, I couldn't match the right framerate for this reel and the lipsynch is a bit off...sorry for that...

:: LTD KEYRING FINDER READY ::

At last ! I could finish my boxes after a few fails with the stickers. The keyfinder sits comfortably in a custom-cut protective foam, and under the foam is the booklet with some goodies ;) I love how it turned out! I still need to get my booklet checked before printing, as English is not my native language (as you can probably guess).

Release date to be confirmed for those who showed some interest ! Probably by the beginning of December, right on time for Christmas ! The Living Daylights is a Christmas movie, right? Opera, kind love story, cello, Ferris wheel, snow, Afghan warriors...

:: PROTOTYPING THE GOLDEN GUN ::

This is probably my final project, and I’m not even sure I’ll be able to see it through to the end.

Replicating the almighty Golden Gun from The Man with the Golden Gun, with the ability to fully disassemble it into its four iconic pieces: the pen, the lighter, the cufflink, and the cigarette case.

For now, it’s only a grey prototype, as I need to make sure everything fits together nicely before moving on to the final version. And so far, I must admit that I’m quite happy with how it turned out, especially compared to the official replica.

The only thing that annoys me: I forgot to print the body of the lighter… Yes, I’m that dumb. So I can’t check whether the barrel fits nicely inside it, whether the cigarette case locks into the lighter the way it should, or whether the lighter hinge works properly.

I also added what I think is a small improvement over the original design: you can now store the little end cap from the pen inside the lighter so you don’t lose it. I also added quite a few small magnets to keep everything securely together.

Next steps: model a thicker clip for the pen so you can actually clip it onto your shirt pocket; make sure that clip is perfectly aligned with the barrel when the pen is fully screwed into the lighter (right now, it’s slightly off…); and, of course:

HOW DO I TURN THIS THING GOLD?!

That’s the part I haven’t figured out yet. But now is not the time to worry about such trivial details.

Who cares if your Golden Gun is actually gold anyway?

:: INTRODUCING : REMOTE MINE 2.0 ::

For now, it's part of a secret project that I'll talk about a bit later. But I'm so glad to finally have a screen accurate LED and sound behavior for my mini remote mine, with (what I think is) the right color scheme and my signature vibrations motor which now have his proper behavior.

And also, the box is perfect ! Not sure about the Q branch though. Let me know what do you think :)

I'll still do the anthracite one of course and maybe at some point I'll do a real timed mine with a timer and...maybe a proximity with a motion sensor ? I don't know...

Stay tuned for the secret project !

:: 1:1 SCREEN ACCURATE REMOTE MINE WITH EXTRA ::

New iteration of the big mine ! This one is screen accurate with the right beeps and the right LED sequence BUT with my signature vibrations motor ! This time the motor goes goes high and low during two LED cycles and it feels great in hand !

Only on Making the Mine ;)

:: A PASSIVE DOOR DECODER FOR DISPLAY IS TOO PASSIVE FOR ME ::

Today I have a very special order because one of my customers asked me to make him a passive door decoder, meaning with no electronics inside.

The goal was to just have a prop to display in his collection. I said yes because, after all, why not — if people want a passive prop I don’t really see the problem. Also, his decoder has everything where it should be: a keypad, two buttons, two LEDs, and I even took the care to integrate the tiny colored LEDs in the top line to make it as authentic as possible.

But in the end I thought it was still a bit sad to have a passive prop.

:: THE SCREEN ACCURATE MINE FOR THE FIRST TIME ::

For the first time, here is the screen accurate remote mine from Goldeneye ! Not only are the size and shape precisely the same as the original prop, but, for the first time for me at least, the electronic, aka the light and sound sequence, is also faithfull to what you see and hear in the movie !

I'm very proud of this new step, thanks to Arduino ! So much new possibilities !

Soon, the mini mine will also get its update with the correct LED sequence !

This one will go to @deletedusername_generic !!
