This is why I do interview prep.

Not scripted answers. Real practice, real confidence, her own words.

91st percentile isn’t luck. That’s preparation meeting opportunity.

So proud of you, Lara. 🎉

Got an interview coming up? Comment “PREP” and let’s get you ready too. 👇 by @makua0

You’re not getting shortlisted because you got lazy with Trac. Same title does not equal 🟰 same job. Comment “TAILOR” if you want the exact prompt I use to rework mine every time.

At this point, are we learning or are we collecting career advice as a hobby? 👀 Your “Saved” folder cannot get the job on your behalf o 😭😂

HOW I’D GET INTO PROJECT MANAGEMENT IF I WAS STARTING AGAIN One of the biggest mistakes I see is thinking that project management starts with the title.
It often starts much earlier when someone takes ownership of a task, coordinates people, manages a deadline, deals with risks and gets an outcome delivered.
Certifications can add value, but they become much more useful when they build on real project experience rather than replace it. #ProjectManagement #ProjectManager #ProjectManagementUK #CareerChange #UKCareers CareerTips PMCareers by @makua0

When you move to a new country, people mean well when they give you advice.

But sometimes, that advice comes with limitations attached to it.

I heard things like:

“Just take any job for now.”

“Your experience back home will not really count here.”

“You need UK experience before anyone will take you seriously.”

“Just survive first. Career can come later.”

And I understand where some of these comments come from.

Moving countries is not easy.

Bills still need to be paid.

Sometimes you genuinely do need to take the job that is available while you find your feet.

There is absolutely no shame in survival jobs.

But what I refused to accept was the idea that survival had to become my final destination.

I did not believe that everything I had done before moving to the UK suddenly became irrelevant just because I crossed a border.

My previous experience did not disappear.

My education did not disappear.

My ability to communicate, manage people, solve problems, coordinate projects, analyse information, work with stakeholders and learn quickly did not disappear.

What I had to learn was how to make UK employers understand the value of those experiences.

And that was a completely different thing.

I had to learn how to position my transferable skills.

I had to understand how UK CVs were written.

I had to understand job descriptions differently.

I had to learn the language employers were using for skills I already had.

I had to stop looking only for job titles that matched what I had done before and start looking at responsibilities.

I had to learn how to connect my previous experience to a completely different sector.

I had to apply.

And apply again.

And sometimes apply when I wasn’t even sure I was good enough.

I kept looking for ways to make my experience make sense in the UK market.

And eventually, I began to realise something:

Starting again is not the same thing as starting from zero.
