It’s that time of year again! In just under two weeks we will be hosting our second-annual Empire Athletics Foundation Shoot-a-Thon. This event is always bitter sweet, but it’s a special time for our program to come together and honor our guy Bizo.

What is the Empire Athletics Foundation?

The EYAF is a 5013c non-profit that was created with the mission to help provide opportunities to underprivileged athletes as well as scholarship opportunities for players within the Empire program as they continue their careers at the next level. In addition, we aim to keep prices affordable for all Empire families given the rising costs of youth sports and inflation. With last year’s fundraising efforts, we’ve been able to reduce seasonal player fees by 10% while still being able to provide the true Empire experience.

We are passionate about continuing to provide extensive weekly practice time slots and playing opportunities with the idea of development at the forefront of what we do.

In addition to being able to manage rising costs, last year’s fundraising efforts allowed us to present our first-ever Collegiate scholarship to an Empire athlete, Malachi Moore. As a subset of the EYAF, we’ve created the Brandon Wilson Scholarship Foundation to honor our late Coach, Brandon Wilson who passed away in an accident two years ago.

Coach Wilson was the epitome of what we strive for at Empire- compassion, excellence, and camaraderie. In an ultra-competitive scene, his main priorities were ensuring that our kids were improving each day and that they were taken care of both on and off the court. He had a special connection with his players and was truly loved by his team and every member of the Empire community. Each year, the scholarship will be awarded to an Empire athlete who embodies Coach Wilson’s legacy both on and off the court.

February 1st is officially “Malachi Moore Day” all thanks to the Town of Babylon. I thank God for this because none of this would have been possible without Him! I thank all my teammates and the people around me everyday that helped make this happen. Love You All Forever!❤️ #maliday
