untitled/parsifal, 2026

performance 1 min. 36 sec.

A replicated steel trash can (contents; hatchet, casted twigs, and rope) is placed on a busy footpath in front of 120 Broadway, the Equitable Building, close to Wall St., Trump Tower and the New York Stock exchange. Dressed as a fool; a frayed and discolored suit jacket, torn shirt with vulgar langauge depicted, an old soviet military hat worn to look like donkey ears, heels, facial jewelry, tattered handwarmers, and striped mismatched briefs. The trash can is kicked over, obscuring the footpath and creating a harsh noise. The contents of the trash can are scattered on the ground for people to walk over.

latin used in film:

I am bound to tell what I am told, but not in every case to believe it - Ego mihi adnarrare, quae dicor, obligor, sed non utique credere. / Herodotus The Histories Book VII, Chapter CLII

untitled, 2026

steel, wood, plaster, rope

Benito Mussolini coined the term “fascist” in 1919 when he formed Fasci Italiani di combattimento. Mussolini's dictatorship was viciously centered on anti-egalitarianism, replaced by a false nationhood and patriotism. The latin root for the word “fascism” is derived from fasces lictoriae, which translates to an axe or hatchet tied to a bundle of wooden rods or sticks. These bundles symbolizes a vires per unitatem or “strength through unity,” and were carried by lictors in ancient rome.

in untitled, 2026, all components for fascism are partially concealed in a replica steel trash bin. The banged up bin is neither meant to conceal nor stand out in the composition of everyday life. Each component is one level of abstraction from it’s real-life counterpart; the hatchet is dull and cracked, the sticks are fragile and lifeless, and the rope is thin. The objects used to create fascism are present but not uniform.
