Sauna Sickness | Sundance 2026, SXSW London, Göteborg Film Festival SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL SHORT TOUR 2026

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I’m overwhelmed with gratitude & excitement that SAUNA SICKNESS is premiering at the #sundancefilmfestival 2026 as part of the Shorts Program! This is truly a dream come true!

Sauna Sickness is a psychological drama with dark comedy set in Sweden ~ a 15 min fever rollercoaster, hot & cold, ups and down and at the core a story of self preservation. I’ve literally put my blood, sweat and tears into this one and I couldn’t have made it happen without my fantastic and dedicated cast, crew and team, who all put their hearts and talent into this project and believed in both me and the story. To all my friends & supporters, I’m truly forever thankful to everyone that has helped make this film become a reality. And thank you so much to @sundanceorg for believing in our film!

I can’t wait to share it with you all. See you in January and the last year in Park City!!

Today is the day! Sauna Sickness is premiering at the Sundance Film Festival. My heart was filled with so much joy, as soon as I got to Park City. It’s been a long road with this one and after so much hard work - I am thrilled to celebrate with part of the team here & share the film with the world ❤️

Thank you to everyone that’s supported me along the way! Reading script versions, talked things out when I’ve spiraled etc etc .. and cheered me on! You mean the world to me!

Thank you @sundanceorg !!!

NY PREMIERE!!! @thesaunasicknessfilm is premiering tomorrow at @ifccenter & I couldn’t be happier!
My first theatrical release, at my favorite theatre in NYC & with my dream team @sundanceorg ~ week before my birthday ❤️ Gotta pitch myself.

Before I moved to NYC I used to dream about living in the west village & working in theatre and film.
Then, living in NYC I often spent weekends going to see indie films at IFC, dreaming about being in those films as an actor ~ then, it transitioned into getting inspired to make the films myself.
So, to return to NYC with a film I wrote & directed and have it premiere and play at IFC feels incredibly special to me. ( Last slides for baby Malin in NYC)

Thank you to @sundanceorg for believing in my film❤️ thank you @ifccenter for playing mine & the other incredibly films in the Sundance Short Film Tour. And thank you to every person who made this film happen~ from my amazing cast & crew, pre production & post team to my friends, my family & our supporters. Love you so! ❤️ by @malinbarr
