✨📚 MID-YEAR WRAP UP 2026 📚✨

How is it already halfway through the year?! 😭

The first six months have offered everything I want from books:
💔 Heartbreak
🔥 Book boyfriends
🌙 Fantasy worlds
😭 Ugly crying
🖤 Morally grey characters
✨ Obsessions that took over my entire personality

I've become completely absorbed in romance, lost sleep for "just one more chapter", canceled plans to read more, and gained several new all-time favorites.

Some of the biggest highlights of the year so far: ✨ Legends of Thezmarr
✨ Vicious Lost Boys
✨ The Wolf King
✨ Dire Bound

And yes... some of these books left me with a book hangover that still hasn't gone away.

You know that one bookish item you've been searching for FOREVER? The one that seems to be sold out absolutely everywhere? 🥹
Well… I FINALLY FOUND MINE!! ✨️

After what felt like endless searching, I stumbled across the Threshing Day: Wing and Claw edition on Vinted. And you better believe I didn't think twice!

Now it's finally sitting on my shelf alongside my other Fourth Wing beauties, exactly where it belongs. And I swear, my heart gets a little happier every time I walk past and see them all together.

One thing I've learned about myself lately? Reading books and collecting books are two completely different hobbies. And apparently, I'm equally obsessed with both. 😂

My little tip for fellow book collectors: don't forget to check secondhand marketplaces! You never know when someone's unhaul might turn into your dream find. 🤎

And of course, Melwin is still taking his job as official guardian of the bookshelves VERY seriously.🐱
Someone has to protect all these precious editions, right?

Some books are worth losing sleep over… and this is definitely one of them. 🖤🔥

📖 Kiss of the Black Flame by Helen Scheuerer

This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year, and let me tell you… IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! ✨

I was hooked from the very first chapter. You know that feeling when you keep telling yourself “just one more chapter” and suddenly it's way past your bedtime? Yeah, that was me with this book. Zero regrets. 😂

THIS is exactly the kind of romantasy I live for! A delicious slow burn, plot twists I didn't see coming, and a story that kept me guessing the entire time. Every time I thought I knew where things were going… NOPE. 👀

If you love slow-burn romance, unpredictable plots, and fantasy books that make you forget about real life, add this one to your TBR! Trust me, it's worth the lost sleep.

An easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me, and I'm already desperate for the next book in this adventure! 🖤

My sleep schedule never stood a chance with this one! 🤎

I HAVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS BOOK!! 🤎

I'm currently reading Kiss of the Black Flame by Helen Scheuerer, and I can't even explain how excited I am to finally have this beauty in my hands! It's easily one of my most anticipated reads of the year. ✨️

Earlier this year, I picked up Blood & Steel, my very first Helen Scheuerer book, and let's just say... I was HOOKED. 😍

Since then, I've devoured every single one of her other books, and now I finally get to dive into a whole new adventure! There's just something so special about finding an author whose books make you want to forget about everything else and just READ. 🤎

And yes, I've already completely messed up my sleep schedule because of this book. 😂 Apparently, telling myself "just one more chapter" is still a lie I happily believe every single night.

No regrets though. Sleep can wait. 🤭✨

Book people just get it. 🤎

There’s something special about finding people online who understand why fictional characters feel like friends, why your TBR keeps growing, and why finishing a five-star read can leave you staring at the wall for ten minutes.

Bookstagram may be full of people we’ve never met, but the support, recommendations, conversations, and shared excitement can feel incredibly real.

✨ I FINALLY GOT TO GO BACK TO BASGIATH! ✨🐉

Reading Threshing Day honestly felt like coming home. I didn’t realize just how much I missed this world and these characters until I was right back in the middle of it all. 🖤

I absolutely loved getting 13 short stories from different POVs. Seeing familiar moments through other characters’ eyes added so much, and I may have even fallen a little harder for a few of them. 👀

It’s packed with character-defining moments, extra lore, familiar faces, and all those little details that make the Empyrean world so addictive. And yes there are spoilers for Fourth Wing and Iron Flame, so definitely read those first!

5 ⭐️
I loved everything about this novella. My only complaint? I already want more. 😂

September really said: here’s some emotional damage… as a treat. 🤎

My September reading wrap-up was a mix of dark romance, romantasy, heartbreak, spice, and apparently me refusing to protect my own feelings.

I finished 5 books and listened to 2 audiobooks this month. And yes, there was also one DNF because life is simply too short to force a book you’re not enjoying.

A few September thoughts:
✨ The Never Queen — dark, addictive, and so much fun.

🖤 Tempest of Wrath and Vengeance — heartbreaking, spicy, and absolutely worth losing sleep over.

🥀 Shadows So Cruel — emotional damage. That’s the review.

🎧 Rites of the Starling — definitely worked better for me on audio.

🎧 Rain of Shadows and Endings — I already loved this series, but the audiobook made me love it even more.

My reminder after this month: DNF the book if you’re not feeling it, try audio when a story isn’t clicking in print, and read whatever keeps you excited to pick up your next book. 🤎

Now I need to know: what was your favorite read in September? I’m always looking for another romantasy or dark romance to add to my TBR. 👀

These are the books I’m starting October with, and honestly? The vibes could not be better. Dragons, fantasy, romance, danger… exactly what I want to be reading this time of year. 🍂✨

Some series are an instant YES… and some are getting left on the shelf. 🤎

There’s something so satisfying about finishing a book and immediately knowing you need the next one. And then there are those series where you close the book and think… do I really want to keep going?

For me, The Empyrean, ACOTAR, Fae & Alchemy, and The Wolf King are easy yeses. No convincing needed. I’m already emotionally invested. 🫶🏼

Shield of Sparrows and The Wolves of Ruin? I’m still deciding. I loved their first books, but the sequels didn’t hit quite the same, so they’re firmly in the “maybe” pile.

And Starside… I think it’s time for me to say goodbye. Sometimes a series just isn’t for you, and there are way too many books waiting on the TBR to force it. ✨

My new rule: if I’m excited to return to the world, I continue. If continuing feels like homework, I move on. Life is too short for books you’re reading out of obligation.

Now I’m curious, which series would you continue, and which one would you DNF? Tell me below because I may need some convincing on my “maybes.” 👀
