Time flies, and naïvely, I believed I had more of it.
Plenty of people grow old with their mothers, instead I’m only a few years older than you were when you had me, and now you’re gone.
This month, you took your journey back home to God, riding on angel wings and probably jamming out to D’Angelo, with a glass of merlot in hand. You lived your life for me, now I hope you get to be at peace, for you. I wish you eternal love and joy, your sacrifices and pain are over now, and God will embrace and shower you with the happiness you sought.

I wish I had more time, to play saxophone with you, to learn your recipes, take walks to the beach, playing with the dog, or finally take that trip to Spain & Argentina.
I promised to build you a house on the beach where you could retire with the dog, you were supposed to travel with me, you were supposed to be there to guide me when I become a mother.
I almost called you to vent this morning, we should’ve called to talk more. I can still hear you laugh, being such a nerd made you the most intelligent comedian. You knew how to laugh through depressing times and I wish I could have saved you.

The stories I used to roll my eyes at are all now resurfacing, you instilled me with memories so I’d never forget, made me learn languages, culture, music, history, literature,
And every turn I make everywhere I go, I see your favorite foods, music, places, favorite sounds, flowers, etc.

When I was little you picked me dandelions and told me they granted wishes, I blew them with all my little might and wished for more dandelions, and more wishes. You laughed and never let me forget that story, you even brought it up once a year. Now every time their seeds float through the wind I’ll feel you, though we had a stubborn relationship at times, I’ll always love you, I’ll always miss you, it’s too silent now without you,
But as I build and as I grow this life I want you to know
It’s for you, for the lifelong sacrifice you made for me to be happy, I’m sorry. I owe it to you.
