❤️ Conversations can heal and you are not alone!
Here are 3 ways to revisit the conversation when you have sh relapse:

1️⃣ Use your Coping Skills before, during and after the conversation. These conversations can come with a lot of emotions. Using coping skills to regulate before the conversation can help you start at a more manageable level, during can help you hang in there through the conversation, and after because if it goes sideways, you’re gonna need to regulate, but even if it goes well you just went in an emotional rollercoaster and you’ll need to regulate.

2️⃣ Write Down what you want to say. Taking the time to write down what you want to say, or key points, can help you stay on track and get your point across. You can bring it with you to the conversation so you have something to hold and look at. And if you start feeling emotional, you can share what you’ve written with the person you’re talking with.

3️⃣ Stay kind with yourself. Relapsing is hard enough, and so is asking for help. You are doing a good, kind thing by seeking support ❤️

Curious how to create your own personalized coping skills list that *actually* work for you?
✅ You’ll want to join us in YOUR CALM CODE where I break it all down for you.
💬 Comment “COPING” and I’ll send you more about it in your DMs

☀️🌹 Some major recouplings are happening this summer. If you’ve been watching Love Island USA, you already know what happened to Aniya last night. 😭💔

She stayed loyal to KC through all of Casa Amor. Chose him over Carl (who was sweet, attentive, had only green flags, and was genuinely all about her).

She stayed loyal because she believed in their connection and the hope of what could be.

And then KC walked back in with Tierra.

Aniya called herself the worst kind of stupid for staying loyal. (She’s not stupid for having hope, by the way. Sometimes we need to see things through to know they’re really over.)

Sound familiar?

Insurance companies have been pulling the same moves as KC on therapists for years. Telling you you’re valued. Promising the relationship works.

And then… rate cuts, clawbacks, credentialing nightmares, six weeks of nonpayment.

It’s just as bad as walking back in with someone else while you’re left standing there wondering why you stayed so long.

You deserved better than what they were offering.

This July, we’re doing a different kind of recoupling.

SAVE THE DATE: July 7-13, 2026 we’re doing another Do the Work Week, this time for the Breaking Up With Insurance Guide.

It’s a live week where you actually do the work of leaving the panel, setting your rate, and building a practice that’s actually all about you.

The guide is currently $98 (or two payments of $50 each).

And when you join before July 7th, the live week is included — yes, even if you bought the guide years ago. 💛

The end of the school year is almost here, and if you've been quietly thinking "this summer we're actually going to do something about this"... this is your sign. 💛

I have new counseling spots open right now, including after school times that don't require waiting for summer to officially begin.

In-person in Branford, CT or telehealth anywhere in CT or NY. DBT-informed support for tweens, teens, and twenty-somethings who want to handle the hard moments without it derailing the whole day.

Here's how it works:
📋 Fill out a short counseling application (link in bio)

☎️ Dominique will reach out to get you on my calendar

These spots go quickly, especially after school times. If this feels like the right fit, now is a good time to apply.

💛 Mallory

Stop putting it off (I’ll sit with you)
Can I tell you something I’ve noticed?

The therapists who most need to work on their referral systems… are usually the ones who are already fully booked…

Not because they don’t care.

Because there’s genuinely no moment where it feels urgent enough to prioritize.

Until there is….

And by then, the spot is already empty and the spiral has already started.

I’m offering a “Do the Work Week” specifically for that gap– the “I’ll get to it eventually” zone.

It’s a live week layered on top of my “Stop the Referral Panic” Workshop ($47, replay included, yours to keep forever).

📆 April 20–26, we’ll be in a private popup Facebook group together…

✔️ daily check-ins from me

✔️ community support,

✔️ supportive accountability,

✔️ and a live Q&A on Friday morning.

And when you pick 2–3 actions from the challenge menu and actually get them done before Sunday- you’ll get some sweet opportunities to boost your practice’s visibility in a special way I’ve never done before! 🔥🔥🔥

This is not “watch and file away for later” experience

I want you to *DO* these beautiful things.

Stephanie said after the workshop she went from anxious about referrals to an 8 out of 10 confidence level — with a clear plan.

That shift didn’t happen from learning about it. It happened from doing it.

We start tomorrow. And then this group disappears April 26th.

Join us now before we kick off so you don’t miss a thing!

😅 If insurance were straightforward, this post wouldn’t exist

Mental health coverage technically exists…
but trying to use it for therapy can feel like decoding a foreign language while on hold. 🫠

In this carousel, I break down:
✨ Why insurance feels extra confusing for mental health
✨ The three main ways therapy may be covered
 ✨ What “in-network” and “out-of-network” actually mean
✨ When single case agreements might be an option
✨ The questions that make insurance calls way less painful

It’s so important to understand your options so you can work with the therapist you vibe with best.

A single case agreement is a more involved insurance option… but it can help in very specific situations.

This may apply when:
 • You can’t find an in-network provider
 • In-network options don’t meet your teen’s needs
 • A therapist offers specialized care that isn’t otherwise available
In these cases, insurance may agree to temporarily treat an out-of-network provider as in-network.

This process usually requires:
 • A clinical assessment
 • A diagnosis
 • A letter of medical necessity

Single case agreements aren’t guaranteed.

But for some families, they make therapy possible when other paths haven’t worked.
I explain how this option works and when it may apply in the full post on my blog (link in bio)

💛 SHARE THIS: Out-of-network therapists are licensed and qualified providers, just like in-network therapists.

The difference isn’t training or experience.
 It’s the payment arrangement.

When a therapist is out-of-network:
 • Your insurance company doesn’t have a direct contract with them
 • You typically pay upfront
 • You may be able to submit for reimbursement, depending on your plan

For many families, out-of-network care can actually mean:
 • More availability
 • More flexibility
 • Better fit for teens

If you’ve ever assumed out-of-network meant “not an option,” I break down how this works, and what to ask your insurance company, in the full post on my blog.

☎️ Four questions to ask your insurance company about therapy:

1️⃣ Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental or behavioral health services?
(Some plans use “behavioral health” instead of “mental health.”)

2️⃣ What is my reimbursement policy and deductible?
This helps you understand what you may need to pay out of pocket before insurance contributes.

3️⃣ Which diagnoses and billing codes are covered?
If you already have a provider in mind, you can also ask which billing codes they use.

4️⃣ Is telehealth covered the same way as in-office therapy?

Some plans handle virtual sessions differently, so it’s helpful to ask directly.

Insurance coverage can be very specific.

Asking the right questions can make the conversation feel a lot clearer.
(Save this for later. You don’t need to figure everything out today.)

🔥 SAVE this for later: When a therapist is in-network, they have a contract with your insurance company and agree to accept the rate your plan pays.

With in-network therapy:
 • Insurance usually pays the therapist directly
 • You follow your plan’s rules for copays, deductibles, or coinsurance

This is often the most familiar option… but it doesn’t always mean care is easy to access.

Many families run into things like:
👎 Not accepting new clients
👎 Providers who don’t see teens
👎 Appointments only during school hours
👎 Mental health carve-outs that restrict options

If in-network therapy hasn’t felt as straightforward as you expected, I wrote a full post explaining:
 • How in-network coverage actually works,
 • Why it can feel so limiting, and…
 • Additional ways your insurance company may be able to help you pay for therapy, when in-network seems like it’s not going to be an option.

➡️ You can find it through the link in my bio.

🚙 You’re driving home and your teen isn’t giving you the AirPod treatment.

They’re laughing, showing you funny videos on their phone, and for a moment, things feel lighter than they did a few months ago.

Getting there didn’t happen by accident.

For many families, that shift starts with realizing their teen needs more support…
and then immediately wondering how therapy is even supposed to work financially.

So you do what most parents do.
You pull out your insurance card.
 You search the provider list.

And that’s when you start realizing the in-network options are full, don’t see teens, or only have openings during school hours. 🫠

That’s often the moment parents feel stuck.

What many families don’t realize is that insurance can sometimes help in more than just the in-network way.

I wrote a post that walks through the three main ways insurance may help cover therapy, including options beyond just in-network care, and explains how they actually work in real life.

If you’re trying to make sense of this piece of the puzzle, you can read the full post on my blog (link in bio)
