📚 Is there one book trope you will always read? I love a lot of different fantasy/adventure tropes, and there are loads of them that I’ll always be happy to read, but found family is my top tier trope.

There's something I love so much about a group of misfits, black sheep, finding a sense of belonging with one another.

Tell me your favourite trope in the comments AND the book you think has done a great job of it! by @mallorywreads

📚 I didn't realize how many books I'd read this month until I was reviewing them last night on Fable. Sure, a couple were shorter, but this has been my biggest reading month ever and I'd say it was a good one!

What was your favourite read from October? by @mallorywreads

📖 Words I'm Annoyed I Didn't Know Existed, Part 10: Noctilucent

WHAT A COOL WORD! It sounds kinda spooky and has a nice feel to it when you say it.

I have no idea where or when I would ever use this word, but I am going to endeavor to use it because, like I said, it's one of my new favorite words.

Is noctilucent a new word for you? by @mallorywreads

📚 WELP! I've completely smashed my 2026 reading goal, so now I'm wondering if I can hit a milestone I've NEVER reached before: 50 books in one year!

Are you on track with your reading goals? by @mallorywreads

LISTEN. I know I've been working through my giant backlog of first books in a series, but this is book two in The Hurricane Wars trilogy and I really want to read it, so I'm going to!

It feels like a tall order for me, but I'm hoping I can finish this by the end of the month to add it to my October reads list!

What book is rounding out your month? by @mallorywreads

📚 This is one of those questions I'm asking my fellow readers even when it's something I feel like NO ONE does. (Or at least really very small numbers of people would do.)

I really couldn't imagine skipping all the context and jumping to the last chapter. Kinda makes me think of the folks that choose to only read the dialogue 😶‍🌫️

Anyway! Is this something you would ever do? Would you sneak a peek at the ending of a book before starting it at the beginning? by @mallorywreads

📖 Words I'm Annoyed I Didn't Know Existed, Part 9: Unctuous

This was another gem from the Hurricane Wars. The line read: "His handsome face was hidden by his obsidian helm, but Talasyn could practically hear the unctuous smile in his voice..." (p. 319)

Like I said, the context told me this word was definitely NOT similar to avuncular in any way 😆

Did you already know the word unctuous? by @mallorywreads

The way I stress out about pronouncing names 😆 ESPECIALLY when it comes to the dragons in the Empyrean series! I'll think I've got the names down, but then I second guess it all. As long as I don't have to say them out loud, I'll be good!

I know I'm not alone in this whole pronouncing names in fantasy books thing... right? RIGHT?! by @mallorywreads

Being succinct with things isn't always my strong suit so just pretend these weren't run on sentences, okay? 😂

Will you be adding any of these to your TBR based on my very professional, not at all long-winded explanation. by @mallorywreads

Really enjoying Daughter of No Worlds! 🦋 I'm about half way through but I'm already looking forward to reading the rest of the trilogy.

This is my first Carissa Broadbent novel and I really like the writing style for this story that's being told. by @mallorywreads

📚 What would you do if your friend DNF'd your favourite book?

I would for sure have a tiny crisis about my book taste and whether I should recommend a book to anyone ever again, but once that's done, I'd ask them about it!

If there was something they didn't like in that particular book, I want to know so that I don't recommend something similar to them.

I want people to enjoy the things that they're reading and if I can help them find that, fantastic! I'm not going to end a friendship over differences in book taste 🙃 by @mallorywreads

📖 Words I'm Annoyed I Didn't Know Existed, Part 8: Coddiwomple.

The next time you want to go for a walk but aren't sure of where you're walking *to* just tell people you'll be out coddiwompling and provide no further context.

This was truly so delightful to receive in my DMs! Thank you @mattmattmatt182 for sharing this word!

When I tell you I love learning about new words—no matter how bat crap crazy they might sound—I'm not kidding! If you know a weird word that I should probably know, please tell me about it!
