Sunday July 19th, 2026 my son turned 21...
15 years ago I was preparing to go to court for custody, and soon after I was awarded primary physical custody. These last 15 years have not been perfect and not easy but we made it this far and he has accomplished so much, im proud of him. Shoutout to his entire village and all those who have shown Sheed genuine love and support through the years.
21 years on this earth as a young black boy is not guaranteed or to be taken for granted and I am thankful to see my son make it thus far, Inshallah he will have many MANY more healthy happy and prosperous years to come.

Eid Al-Fitr 2026 ❤️🖤💚
What a day it was. It started with Eid prayer with the Fam, good food at the Masjid with the Fam and we chilled there while we waited for Jummah. The best part of the day however was receiving a call from my nephew Jahlil (who had participated in fasting for Ramadan this year) before Jummah saying he was ready to take his Shahada, i told him to meet me at the Masjid for prayer and we will make that happen, he did just that. It was a happy and proud moment for myself and a great life move for himself, this was the perfect way to end Ramadan start our Eid...

This morning around 5am I decided to go on my favorite walk it was about 17 degrees outside when I started, some way some how, when I finished it was 85 degrees and sunny...when you walk alone, .there are many benefits to be had...

Two words...

CHICAGO MARTHON

✌🏿✌🏿 On October 12th (InshaAllah) I will be running in my second ever marathon, the 47th CHICAGO MARTHON...I was fortunate enough to be selected as a charity entry through @charityteams and the Dave Mcgillivray Finish Strong Foundation. I have dedicated my entire adult life working with children in many capacities professionally, as a teacher, a dean, a counselor/career specialist, coach and mentor. Doing all I can to help mold and lead our children to greatness and their full potential is my passion, I also love sports and athletics....DMFSF values are aligned with mine. With that being said, I need all the help i can get to achieve my foundraising goal of $4000. Now I did the harf math (😂) and if 40 of my friends were to donate $100 each, my goal will be reached easily. My ask is that if you have it, please donate whatever you can, no amount is too small and everything counts. Anyone who donates $50 or more will relieve a free "Mally Marathon" "Marathon Mally" tshirt. The link is in my bio and I thank you in advance for your generosity.

Story time...

Waaaay back in the day, my mother took me and my sis Eboni to see The Wiz live when the show came to Boston (we were about maybe 10 years old), it had to be our first real play/musical we had ever been to. We had seen The Wiz on TV with MJ and Diana Ross and we loved it, so we were extra excited to see it in live person. Obviously it was a different cast and Dorothy was played by @iamstephaniemills . As we sat and watched in awe for the entire show, when the finally came and it was time for Ms. Mills to sing home 🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️ she sang it with so much passion and her voice was so beautiful, when she hit that "like hoooooooooooooommmmmmmmme" note, it literally bought tears to my eyes. Slightly embarrassed I looked to my right where my sis was sitting right next to me, and she had tears in her eyes too, made me feel much better knowing I wasn't the only one 😂😂😂. We never forgot that day, we talk about it now still over 30 years later, memories that will last a lifetime.
Fast forward to present day, I'm on the phone with Sis before my run today and she says "J, the Wiz is in town and tonight's the lastnight, I'm thinking bout bringing Mimi". We talked about how dope it was when we went and decided in that moment we were going to bring our daughters and give them the same experience we had when we were young. The show was great, the girls LOVED IT, and this time (although the singing was EXCELLENT) there were no tears shed, however there were at least 2 hearts (Eboni and Mine) that were ALL THE WAY FILLED as we were able to complete a full circle moment with our children, we are so very blessed and I love them more than I could ever truly express...thank you E

#SummerWork
We have a long standing partnership with #bostonuniversity #tuffsuniversity and @whosgotmorale in which we have focused on "communities of care"...Throughout the last couple years we have built a community garden and in the summer have provided paid summer work to our young people building and creating in our ever growing community of care. This is just a snippet of what we did the other day.

1st we harvested some of the crops we planted this summer.
2nd we cleaned them up
3rd we prepared them to be cooked
4th we chefed them up
5th we ate what we grew

The kids always love when I cook for them 🤷🏿‍♂️😂😂😂 but it's extra special when you can cook the food they decided to grow, that they planted with their own hands, in the garden beds that they built from scratch, laid soil on, and nurtured with love and care...

Great things happen at Community Academy with what society has labeled "the most troubled population".
Well let me rephrase that, is a damn shame that These great things that happen at Community Academy for this population of brilliant students is not valued (nor are the students themselves) by Boston Public Schools, as they voted to shut us down after next school year 🤦🏿‍♂️

Anyway, the staff and supporters who stayed and care about our kids will be there to continue to push our students to greatness by any means...
