Some art, some travels, and always my cat 🖤

I’ve been loving getting back to paint and pencil this year. With tattooing, drawing on my iPad is the most convenient and efficient way to get a design done. It’s easier to quickly edit, have moveable layers, transfer to a printer, etc. But as much as I love my iPad, I’m also a lover of traditional art. It helps me get back to my roots and reset my creative brain when I feel a block.

And, as much as I adore tattooing, it’s not my only interest in life, and I’ve learned this year that it’s important more than ever to dive into every aspect of my curious and creative brain.

// I also fulfilled my vampiric dreams of visiting the fictitious town of Mystic Falls, where The Vampire Diaries was filmed! And Hawkins, where they filmed Stranger things! So cool to see both in person(:

Thank you all for being here 🖤

This was my clients first ever tattoo! I’m always so honored to do first tattoos, as it allows me and our shop to show clients what a first tattoo experience can be like. Comfortable, welcoming, and cozy!

This cutie is a barn owl! I had an amazing time designing and tattooing this birdie. Did you know, as a species, they’re found on almost every continent? Fascinating how widespread these nocturnal hunters are!

Are you looking to get a bird tattoo like this? My books are open(:

During the stenciling process, we make sure we have the correct size and placement that the client is 100% happy with. I often do several print outs of varying sizes to make sure the client has multiple options to try out in the mirror before placing a stencil.

At any point during the stenciling process, it’s completely safe and ok to have a change of heart! Stenciling is, in my opinion, the most important step of the tattoo process for the ability to freely adjust. I always encourage my clients to tell me exactly what they’re thinking, no judgment!

This was a piece custom created by mixing two of my pre-made designs together to make one bouquet of florals! If you ever see a flash of mine that you love but would want some custom changes to make it your own, I would be so happy to do that for you(:

Created at @honeybirdtattoo

My books are open for both new and returning clients, excited to work with you!

July’s mail club parcel was inspired by Jane Austen, our book club has been reading Pride and Prejudice and I’ve admittedly got sucked into learning even more about the regency era itself. It has created a better understanding of the novel which has been very helpful!

Included this month was;
☕️ An original 4x6 art print
☕️ Bookmark with a quote from Austen
☕️ Word search with vocabulary inspired by Pride and Prejudice
☕️ Journaling prompts
☕️ A personal letter from myself

If you’re wanting to get involved with my mail club, please check the l!nk in my biø(:

I hope you all have been having a great month so far!

Absolutely adore tattooing birds, this one is from my flash and I’m so glad it found a home!

Here we have a Golden Tanager, appropriately named for its vibrant and beautiful plumage. They are incredibly easy to spot due to its colorings making them a favorite in the area for bird watchers! They are found in a wide distribution across the North and Central Andes year round and include several subspecies.

Of course, my tattoo is black and grey, but swipe to see the gorgeous colors they carry!

Let me tattoo a bird on you!!

It’s always been an effort for me to share more of my ‘personal’ life on my page, social media and keeping up online hasn’t ever quite been a natural desire of mine. However I do want to create space to people to see who I am outside of tattooing, and that there’s a multi-faceted person behind the screen. I do other things besides tattooing I promise(:

Lately I’ve been devouring books and journaling, teaching friends chess, enjoying art, watching new and old films, moving my body + mind and spending my time as intentionally as I can. I’ve been continuing my studies in oil painting and have a sudden burst of interest in regency era social and political culture that I’ve been diving into. I can’t even list everything!

It feels like there’s so much going on and not much at all at the same time. But I am grateful for this life and the people in it.

Thank you for being here 🖤
