We recently rediscovered footage that was shot by @ourmaninparis at @musikloppen back in 2020. Here is the horn intro for “Water And Herbs” back when @oillywallace was playing alto with us. taken in Musik Loppen by @malthekaptain

Passages In Time - album out now 🤍

The third Quartet album reflects on the elusive nature of time, memory, and the choices we make - the ones that shape our own destiny and the lives of those closest to us - and the quiet weight of our priorities within the brief span we call life on this planet.

These recordings began over a year ago, and as my time in the studio has become more sparse, there were often months between sessions. The process was highly intuitive, and Passages in Time would not exist without these wonderful musicians, who generously gave their time and talent to help bring the idea to life: to merge freeform jazz improvisations with analog cyclical synthesizer patterns.

Thank you soooo much Claus, Anna, Malthe, Oilly and Katie 🤍

Kasper Bjørke Quartet : Passages In Time

Produced, arranged and mixed by Kasper Bjørke.
Synthesizers performed and written by Kasper Bjørke and Claus Norreen. Engineered by Claus Norreen.
Saxophone and Flute performed and written by Oilly Wallace.
Trumpet and Flugelhorn performed and written by Malthe Kaptain.
Guitar performed and written by Anna Roemer.
Harp performed and written by Katie Buckley.
Engineered by Jesper Pedersen.
Mastered by Taylor Dupree / @12kmastering

Passage I
(small, soft feet running across wooden floors in the morning)

Passage II
(listening to lullabies and holding hands)

Passage III
(slow days of togetherness)

Passage IV
(watching you quietly eat an apple in the shade)

Passage V
(sounds from your rituals in the garden near the old tree which has witnessed your childhood)

Passage VI
(while you slept, the thought of not knowing how to braid your hair brought quiet tears)

Passage VII
(when you learned to stand in your own light)

Passage VIII
(fifteen years passed and a full circle moment surrounded us, where the ocean meets the mountains)

Passage IX*
(as the snow melted, the sorrow felt overwhelming)

The current @guidingstarorch horn section is @lauritsqwistbilen on trombone, @malthekaptain on trumpet, myself on tenor sax. During this session we had the honor of having Sölvi Kolbeinsson on alto sax but he has since moved back to Iceland 🎥: @rosforth @silas_samsoe taken in Tuse Næs by @malthekaptain
