POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

My Ghibli kitchen, or so I've been told. I’ve never been one to follow convention; I simply surround myself with what brings me joy. We’re big Ghibli fans in this house, so perhaps I’ve crafted my own little Ghibli-inspired world. Here's to a "surround yourself with what you love" kind of Sunday.

FOMO?
Only of my morning coffee! ☕🤎
(and the second coffee...)
Anyone else look forward to that first cup of the day as much as I do?

Some of them are tucked away in the English countryside, behind old wooden doors and beneath centuries-old beams... 📖🕯️🤎

what a difference six months makes... 🛁🧡
A little before and after of our storybook bathroom. Same view, completely different room.

Worth the wait ( and all the dust! )

or so i've been told...

We're huge Studio Ghibli fans here at the cottage.

For those who aren't familiar, Studio Ghibli is a Japanese animation studio responsible for some of the most beautiful, imaginative films, filled with extraordinary little worlds, magical places and interiors you just want to step inside.

We're often told that our little cottage reminds people of The Secret World of Arrietty and Howl's Moving Castle, and I absolutely love that comparison. I can't think of a nicer compliment for our old, wonky cottage. xx

Our little storybook bathroom, created with @chadderandco

Ad. If you're looking for something a little out of the ordinary for your bathroom, do visit @chadderandco in Forest Row, East Sussex. Their showroom is an absolute delight, filled with extraordinary pieces, from beautiful mosaic baths to baths in all shapes and sizes. And if you have something specific in mind, they'll work with you to create a bespoke piece just for your home.

And then there's Martin Chadder, the owner of @chadderandco, who is quite simply one of a kind. Impeccably dapper, wonderfully funny and full of character, his passion for his business is infectious. He's guided us brilliantly through our choices and has been an absolute pleasure to work with.

We bought our whole bathroom suite from @chadderandco, bringing all the elements together to create a bathroom that feels completely at home in our little storybook cottage.

Our cottage bathroom is small, so creating something practical, uncluttered and in keeping with our style was always going to be a challenge.

I wanted to keep the freestanding bath design we had before, but our previous bath was much longer and lower. We needed something shorter to make the most of the space, and this beautiful French bateau bath from @chadderandco was perfect. We love its height, too.
At 150 kilos, getting our little bath beast upstairs was quite the adventure! Four strong people and a structural engineer's assessment later, it was finally in place. Absolutely worth it. It's one of the most comfortable baths I've ever sploshed in!

We sourced the beautiful stained glass shutters, originally from an old pub in the Cotswolds. With a little tweaking, they were the perfect finishing touch.

The shower is solid brass construction and heavily copper-plated finish. I've never seen anything quite like it. It's such a unique piece, adding real character to the bathroom, and I love how the copper develops its own beautiful patina. It fits perfectly with the quirkiness of our cottage.

I'll be sharing some behind the scenes of our bath
journey..

I'm off for a long soak!

Jane xx
