Yesterday I had dinner at the Brasserie Bofinger in Paris where I had the chance to discover this magnificent mosaic.

Opened in 1864, the Brasserie Bofinger is the first Parisian establishment where beer was served on draught. Bofinger has an exceptional Art Nouveau style, a superb and huge dome with floral patterns signed Neret and Royé, beveled mirrors, glass paste lights, ceramic vases and of course this magnificent mosaic floor ♥️♥️♥️

I have just returned from Armenia where I spent four unforgettable weeks. Have you ever heard of this country? What comes to your mind when you hear the name of this small country?

Regarding my publication today, it’s the entry to Matenadaran, Museum of Armenian Manuscripts. The year of the museum's establishment is indicated in Armenian letters. This is an alphabet of 38 letters used only by the Armenian language.

Today the Institute of Armenian Manuscripts has more than 17,000 manuscripts and about 300,000 archival documents.

The oldest manuscript fragments date back to the 5th-6th centuries, the oldest miniatures (those of the Etchmiadzin Gospel) date back to the 6th century, the oldest complete manuscript is dated 887 (Lazarian Gospel)...

The Matenadaran manuscripts cover practically all fields of ancient and medieval Armenian science and culture: theology, history, geography, philosophy, grammar, law, medicine, mathematics, literature and miniatures.

In Paris it’s horribly hot today. It reminded me of the day I visited the Villa Romana del Casale. The sun was also burning ... the air was very hot ... yet I was very happy to discover this marvel.

It’s an ancient villa located 5 kilometers south of the town of Piazza Armerina, in Sicily.

The construction of the Villa began at the end of the third century. The villa has around thirty rooms decorated with 3,500 m2 of mosaics. Occupied until 1160, it was then devastated by a fire and disappeared under a landslide.

Rediscovered in 1812, the villa was excavated from 1929. The Villa is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.

Obviously the mosaics are carefully preserved and safeguarded. A very small part, three square meters, is accessible on foot. All the rest is to admire from far. So I was able to take this modest photo for you. Enjoy!

I love the contrast of this mosaic. This is the floor of a simple Parisian brasserie.
However these simple floors give these small Parisian restaurants a real identity and character! #enjoy!!!
