37 years of being alive and 20 years since I first began to follow Jesus. During the first seventeen years of my life the kingdom of this world left me heartbroken, disappointed, disillusioned, abandoned and empty. But God, in his sweet grace, scooped me up from all of that pain and sadness and has blessed me far greater than I could ever deserve. I got to marry my best friend, become a mama to three beautiful babies, move into a neighborhood with the best neighbors anyone could ever dream up, be a part of a church where I’ve felt the “affectionate love” Peter talks about in the Bible. At 37, I can tangibly see the kingdom of God is all around me. Even in seasons when my love for God has grown cold- he has not let me go. Thank you Jesus for 37 years. 🙏🏼 by @mandimapesmusic

Everyone say happy birthday to my sweet dad and our beloved Pawpaw! I sent my dad this text this morning: Happy Birthday Dad!!! You are such a gift to me, Bill, June, Liam, Teddy, Tracy and Rylee! You always bless whoever you are around. If it’s serving food at church, or fixing things around our house, or bringing cold water to the garbage men on a hot day or loaning your tools to someone in need of money so they can go work for the day or caring for grandma in her final years and now caring for your brother. You are possibly the most self sacrificing person I know and always (since you were a kid!) caring for those in need. You reflect Jesus in hidden ways that few people get to see, but God sees and I see too! When someone tells me I’m a good mom I smile and know it’s because I have an amazing dad who loved me and delighted in me every single day. You worked so hard to provide for me. You were always patient with me, always kind. Rarely can I ever remember you being mad at me. Our home was so rich with peace and love and so many sweet memories. Love you Dad! I wrote this song, This Christmas Day, when I was 19 years old. It was released on CD, but was never released on streaming platforms. Year after year, each Christmas, friends and family would reach out and ask, “When are you going to release This Christmas Day?” Well, the wait is finally over! This past July I called up my buddy, @lucas_morton who produced my most recent album, Levees and asked if he would be up for recording some Christmas songs. I had so much fun getting to work with him and so many other talented, kind people to bring this song back to life. I’m especially thankful for the folks who showed up to lend their beautiful voices.
