A few months ago I got an email for the Jamesport triathalon and joked with my friends I was gonna do it. When I hurt my calf a little over 2 months ago and couldn’t run, I hopped into a pool to do laps for the first time. I guess this was the sign and the push I needed to finally sign up for said triathlon. My training began to look a lot different. 1 month ago I clipped in to a bike for the first time and rode outside on the path. 2 weeks ago, I did my first open water swim. And during the actual race yesterday I ran my first “otb” miles😅

16.4 mile bike
3.1 mile run

My very first triathlon complete! No expectations or pressure and I had sooo much fun! (It was a lot more enjoyable than a hyrox🤣) Really proud of myself for this one. I almost wanted to give up when I first started training because I just could not get the swimming down. But I survived. The rewards of pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone and trying new things are limitless.

Shoutout to the best crew for helping me along my lil triathlon journey -
My coach @rich_homiclutch who programmed my training for the last 2 months and encouraged me along the way
@alexaaajae who helped with all the equipment and insight I needed to be successful
@notstatefarm22 didn’t completely laugh at me my first day entering a pool and attempting to swim & helped with drills to get better (still never using the dumb snorkel)
@e_dema who taught me how to clip in and rode with me (very slowly) for my first trip outside
And of course my fiancé, @yaboy_vjc, who is my number one fan and supports me 1000% in all of my crazy endeavors.

Told myself I wouldn’t do another but who knows what I could do with some more real training? 👀🤪 taken in Jamesport, New York by @mandurinorange

Hyrox North America Regional Championships Elite15 Doubles.

A literal dream come true bucket list item. It was a privilege to race against some of my idols and the fastest and fiercest in the sport.

A race not up to “my standards” but I’ve literally done one Hyrox workout since November. I couldn’t walk on my own 12 weeks ago. We were notified 2 days before the race we were in. I am proud of myself for staying in the fight and not giving up.

The scars on my stomach are only proof of how resilient the female body is - a badge of honor of my strength and how much I am capable of even after a significant life change.

This one made me so hungry for more. No training under my belt and I still can manage to produce and finish a somewhat decent race. The fire is reignited and my comeback story only continues from here.

Thank you to everyone for the overwhelming love and support. I hope my story continues to inspire you to never give up and keep showing up for yourself, no matter what life throws at you.

Wow. Competing in the Hyrox Americas Regionals in the Elite15 tonight. Quite the rolldown spot, but still an honor nonetheless. 12 weeks ago, I had major abdominal uterine surgery and here I am tonight, toeing the Elite15 start line. Did I have some doubt and nerves accepting this spot? Yes. Did I think I deserved to be up here with this elite group of women? Maybe not. Was I even ready for any sort of Hyrox in general after I’ve only been back in the gym for 6 weeks? Probably not. Am I insane? Definitely yes.

But at the end of the day, all I could think of was I’ll probably never be in this position again. If I didn’t accept, I would be sitting at home, beating myself up, with regrets of ‘what if’. And if there’s one person I’m going to bet on, it’s myself. Years of injuries, setbacks, and failures and yet, I still continue to show up.

Regardless of the outcome tonight, this experience has been so surreal and I’m so grateful for it; Grateful for years of hopes and dreams coming true, when they seemed so far out of reach. Finally fulfilling my years long dream of Elite15. Continue to work hard and sometimes you just need surrender to life unfolding and opportunities falling into your lap.

And lastly I certainly wouldn’t be here without my partner, who supports me and believes in me despite me being a banged up mess right now. We’re ready to throw down and give it our all!

About 3 months ago on a windy, summer day in August, I had the honor of marrying off my little brother to the love of his life and now wife.

It was a day of laughs, smiles, tears and so much love. Oh and dancing. A whole lot of dancing. I wish we could relive this day forever.

Still soaking it all in. I can’t even begin to describe the emotions this race has brought me. Between the lead up before, how I felt during, the results, all the amazing and overwhelming support and everything in between. I am beside myself. Not having the season I wanted or anticipated, this was our one last chance and we did it. TOGETHER.

Alexa (trying not to cry again) - You believe in me more than I believe in myself. You stuck by me through all of my health uncertainty in the last month, unsure if I was gonna be able to even compete a week before this. You still never once faltered in wanting to compete with me. You put me on your back during this race so I kept fighting and fighting because I knew I could not let you down. You embody what it means to be a teammate and I truly could not do this without you. I am so grateful for you as my doubles partner and my best friend. I love you beyond belief.
